    Sorry to burst yr bubble but this is probably top ten from the bottom...

    I would take this rankings with a pinch of salt...How do they rate bolehland as top ten? Based on the perception of the various govt "announced-but-actual-implementation?" policies?

    bolehland scored in business and government efficiency. Wahaha...been dealing with govt agencies all my life and i can tell you that it is anything but that!!! Singapore yes but bolehland?

    It's all form but no substance!!!!

    IMD evaluation on country’s competitive is based on 4 core aspects – economic performance, public administration, public infrastructure and business efficiency in private sector.

    It DOES NOT include – public administration efficiency, corruption index, sovereignty debt, human capital management, education and technology.

    That's explain the result.

    Let’s wait for the WEF (World Economic Forum) report on country competitiveness which will be released in September.

    That's what the Gov wants us to think....

    they also said growth is up in Q1 but somehow, that's not what ppl on the street share... they are projects but very few dare to go into fearing collection problem. A lot of companies are burdened with cashflow problems... Everyone is hoping things will pick up otherwise, a lot of businesses will suffer big time.

    My guess is the ratings were concluded as follows:

    • Economic Performance - RM67 billion prime pumping is top-ten achievement;

    • public administration - most bloated and higest public servant ratio per capita;

    • Public Infrastructure - Putrajaya Administrative Capital, Cyberjaya, all the mega project like half-empty Dayabumi...

    • Business efficiency in Private Sector - maybe this one got credibility a bit lah...

    Agree. Look at the LRT extension, they have been talking about it since mid 2006, now it has been 4 years and construction haven't started.

    Public transport ie. buses is still one of the worst in the world.

    Approval for renovation, approval for blah, blah etc takes a very long time.

    What about application for PR for married foreigners ? That will take 20 years in some cases !

    hahahha it's selective efficiency. They choose to be efficient in certain areas and totally inefficient in other areas.

    But honestly, where else in the world can you get a passport done in 1 hour? My first work permit took 3 months to get, my 2nd took 2 week and my 3rd took 1 hour. EPF withdrawal took 30 minutes (most of them spent chatting with the clerk). At the airport I can walk into the Malaysian passport queue and get through fast - sometimes faster than wifey who has the e-passport with the chip inside.

    I still wonder tho - why the police still write up summonses using pad & pencil when even the local councils have teleprinters with hyperlinks to servers.

    Cheers, m

    Oh! its only for rankings tabulated based on just4main criteria;
    - economic performance (retire leow, so dont care too much..only care to spend & stretch the moolah ,
    - government efficiency (mai pen rai. 3monthly renewal visa is good leow - business efficiency ( retire leow...no nid 2do bizz lah)
