    Question Domestic water filters

I'm interested to know if it is worth installing a large water filter immediately after the water mains. To exclude all the suspended particles in the piped water, I would go for a simple particle filter without the activated carbon element.

We are currently using a simple RM8 changeable filter and considering upgrading to one of those types with the backwash facility. I am skeptical of the backwash process since it is basically the same dirty piped water that does the washing, hence don't it deposit/trap the sediments within the filter?

Comments from current backwash filter users are welcomed. It would be good to also hear from people with academic/research references on the use of such devices.

    Good

I recommend you the Rocket water filter. It's is a backflush technology.
I really helps and i can see clear water everyday..No joke.
When u try to make a weekly backflush, you can literally see so much dirt and dirty water.
You will be shocked!.. No use installing a small cotton filter outside. Backflush is the
solution. Another thing is, install copper/stainless steel pipes.

I installed mine at RM1600 at a special deal.

The one from Bacfree and Waterco is good..
    I recommend Waterco..i guess around RM2200

I got my Waterco installed at RM1850, inclusive of installation and
    plumbing plus media (silicon sand).

10 years guarantee for casing, and 1 year guarantee for the
    levers.

I installed an Delco rocket type. It only cost me Rm1500 inclusive of copper piping from the main. I also managed to installed new copper piping from water filter to the water tank and down to the kitchen pipe costing Rm1200. Now very satisfied with the water. No more smell and dirt. When I do a backflow, you will be shock to see the mud and dirt.

For any of the filters quoted, be assured that the water quality will be worth every sen you spend. But just remember to flush your water tank before installation.
