I tell you, IF I CATCH anyone in my area dumping unwanted things in the padang (which is very well maintained -kudos to MPSJ!), you'd get a piece of my mind and drag these CRIMINALS to the police station. Christmas or not!..

Last but not least, say you're renovating your home, you rent a container for construction waste debris disposal and park it by the road side. Guess what?.. few days later, you'd be finding it filled with OTHER PEOPLE'S rubbish mostly thrown in by blardi OPPORTUNISTIC neighbors or outsiders who're DAMN LAZY to cart of their own rubbish waste. THIS IS MALAYSIA FOR YOU!.. Beat THAT!

What MPSJ is doing is that upon receiving your complaint, they'll dispatch Alam Flora to clear the illegal dumping.

Also, if caught, the culprit will be issued a compound, failing to settle that will lend him in court. Express lane for illegal rubbish dumping to go court.

Members of the public can help, please take photo/video from your handphone, MPSJ willl issue summons to them.

Not enough secondary schools in USJ

    Dear Rajiv,

I went to SMK USJ12 for the orientation day for my son on Saturday and I was shocked to see so many children enrolled here. There were not enough places for parents to even sit to hear the briefing. Many had to stand throughout the briefing. The classrooms in this school are small as they were only meant to cater for the Smart School concept. However, there are about 50 pupils in each class and there are about 15 classes here. The desks are placed wall-to-wall. This is one of the schools that offers Mandarin during school hours and hence, it has become a big hit among the Chinese.

I notice that there is a huge piece of land opposite the surau in USJ 18. I don't know if it is allocated for a school but building a school which offers Mandarin during school hours will definitely ease the tightness the children are feeling.

I also read in the Wikipedia that Subang Jaya is now the second most populated places with 1.3 Million people in Malaysia. I hope you are able to do something to ease the congestion.

Yes, the USJ18 empty land is allocated for a school, and now its up to the Ministry of Education to get moving building one there.

    Hi Ravi,

I sent this to Hannah Yeoh on 14th November and nothing has happened (yet!) but it may not be her area but yours? Anyway, something to consider.

    Cheers,
    Ellen

Solution to parking problems in Jalan SS15/5A, Subang Jaya

    Dear Hannah,

The parking along Jalan SS15/5A, Subang Jaya has become dreadful thanks
to the new hotel and businesses there but today I realised it is
possible to increase parking space by 2 or even 3 times if the parking
slots on the side of the main road are changed from parallel parking to
    slanted parking.

The side where the cars are parked parallel has a very small grass verge
that could be used so that the two way road is preserved. All it would
take to make the change would be to repaint the stripes on the road.
The half meter sacrifice of scrub grass would (I think) outweigh this.

Perhaps you could look into it?

Jalan SS15/5A is the one with Omok and D'Tandoor Restaurant opposite SJMC.

    Regards,
    Ellen

    Hi Ellen,

I'm Rajiv (not Ravi). My area is USJ2-15. SS15 comes under Mdm Theresa. I've already emailed to her this request/suggestion of yours. You may also follow up with her: theresa@mpsj.gov.my

    Exclamation Illegal Posters and Banners

    Hi Rajiv,

Lately there are more and more illegal posters and banners posted and hanging round in Subang Areas. What are the steps the Authorities are taking or planning to take against them?

How to get more money to serve the community better

I am not sure if MPSJ has already doing this, I like to suggest this:

Set a regulation where all 'rubbish' from each and every household must be divided into five categories: Organic, metal, plastic, paper, real rubbish.

Alam flora to collect only the real rubbish on current normal scheduled days.

The 3R categories to be collected by another contractor on a different day. This contractor is to be selected through tendering process, the one selected would be the one who pays MPSJ the highest tender price to collect the 3r items. The money collected from contractor can then be used for the community. The tendering should be done by area, if the tender price for USJ 11 is RM5000/month then this money should only be used for USJ 11 community.

My children's former school have a beautiful school environment and they were all done and maintained using money collected through recycling project.

In New York, the residents are required to separate the 'rubbish' by categories, those who failed to do that would get a ticket.

In my house, we already separate our discards according to the different recyclable categories. Once a month or when the bins get full, we sell the stuff to the collectors.

Now if every household were to do the same, ie sell the recyclables to the collectors, do you think MPSJ can force households to "donate" the recyclables for MPSJ to get revenue from a collector? I also know that some households send their recyclables to charity homes or buddhist organisations that collect such stuff for their charity drives.

The thing is, in States, every corner of your housing estate there is a dumpster so it was very convenient to educated households to utilize the separation bins.

Here nak cari tong sampah pun susah....tak paya cerita pasai bin

I strongly urge MPSJ to setup similar environment here, each precinct should have these bins for household to throw stuff.

I would rather see more people give the recyclables to the local "old newspaper" truck...supporting local entrepreneurs instead of government.

As for the community composting, that is a place where MPSJ can be involved. Reduce is better than Reuse and recycle anyways.

YES!,, there should be public bins around where people can dispose rubbish, NOT construction or renovation debris. I'm actually disappointed rubbish collection is never on a Monday morning. Its during weekends that most household waste is accumulated and there's a few days gap of at least 3 days. I frequently have to drive out to some nearby bin to dispose of it myself. Rotting waste over 3 days especially on weekend isn't pleasant at all.
I hope MPSJ can revise the times somehow. I'm at USJ9.
BTW, go look at some flats dump area at USJ8, especially front Restoran Maju Maju. ITS FILTHY EVERY TIME, people there are throwing the rubbish way OUTSIDE THE bin! I think I'll take a pic and post it here soon.
Yes, those flats are with many foreign worker residents renting there. Oh well, I suppose they don't care and I suppose they do the same thing in their own place of origin and fellow residents do the same thing! Despicable behavior!

or you can practice the 'reduce' concept ... instead of having new containers for recycling bins, just reuse some cardboard boxes (photocopy paper is best, light & solid) and plastic bags...drycleaning bags are easy to use ... just tape up the opening for the hanger.

Then simply use the drycleaning bag until it is full, tie and give to the old newspaper guy...he will take care of the rest.

In that way you reduce, reuse, and recycle

    Cheers, m
