4 stolen a day!
Neville Spykerman
An average of four Wiras were stolen each day in the first six months of the year, making it the most popular model in the list of stolen private vehicles.
The hot areas where the thefts occurred were in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya and Johor Baru.
Proton Wiras top the list with 660 cars stolen from January to June this year, while Perodua Kancil is second.
The total number of private cars stolen in the first six months is 2,084.
This has caused insurance companies a staggering RM108,676,288 in claims paid out for the first six months of the year.
In light of such alarming figures, American Home Assurance Company Malaysia has issued a circular advising policy-holders owning Proton Wiras to be extra cautious.
The company urged owners to be aware of the risks and take necessary measures to protect their vehicles.

I think the best protection is don't drive a WIRA.
Just joking.
We just have to go back to the chicken and egg story about cheaper national cars and their "second grade" accessories but "first class" pricing, the milo tin joke and etc.

The nagging thought is this:
Will there be loading of insurance premium for Wira as it now is a
high-risk model.
We own two at home.

worse still jeff, u may need to consider registering an old junk just to get a basic 3rd party insurance running so that when u lose your ncb on your lost wira u still can get discounted insurance by transferring it from the junk.
