    1Malaysia Clinics location

    The 50 1Malaysia Clinics had started operation from 4 January 2010 onwards and the first 1Malaysia Clinic in Jalan Pantai Permai 1, Lembah Pantai Kerinch by Malaysia had been officially launched by Prime Minister on 7 January 2010.

    It cost RM1 to get treatment at 1Malaysia Clinics nationwide. 1Malaysia clinics charges a nominal fee of RM1 for medical consultation and provides medicine for free. The opening hours are between 10am and 10pm.

    According to news reports, the scope of the 1Malaysia clinics' services include:

    • minor treatments for fever, cough and flu;

    • follow-up treatments for stable chronic patients like those who are diabetic, have high blood pressure and asthma cases;

    • minor surgical procedures like cleaning wounds and taking out stitches;
      simple laboratory tests;

    • stabilising patients under emergency cases before referring them to hospitals; and

    • health consultation and promotions for patients.

    For cases exceeding the scope of Medical Assistants at the clinics, patients will be referred to the nearest health clinics or government hospitals.

    Yesterday, I went to the USJ 1Malaysia Kelinik located at USJ1 Angsana Rumah Pangsa for my
    cough and also to check out this new poor man medical centre. To my surprise, it is well
    managed with 4 friendly staff and the place doesn't look like the regular kelinik kerajaan
    where it is overflowing with people with babies crying in every nook and corner. In fact
    this 1Malaysia Clinic is fully air conditioned and even have queue numbering system and a
    large LCD TV to provide the little entertainment they can afford.

    This Clinic located in USJ 1 (but nearer from USJ 8) has been in full operation since opening its
    doors to the public on September 18 last year. Today, it running from 10am to 10pm every
    day 7 days a week 52 weeks a year. It is closed between 12.15pm and 2.45pm on Fridays.

    The clinic provides treatment for minor illnesses and basic medical needs such as cold and
    stomach ache, flu, fever and dressing cuts and mainly caters primarily to residents in USJ
    and Subang Jaya. Forget about going there for your open heart surgery and don't even think
    of finding a neurosurgeon there.

    The clinic is now staffed by full-time personnel who will work in two shifts. Each shift
    will have one medical assistant, one staff nurse and one medical attendant.At the time when
    I was there at nearly 6 pm.I was the only VIP (Very Inconspicuously Poor) patient there and
    was attended by this medical assistant who doubled up as a medical examiner and a
    pharmacist who actually examined me, listened to my complaint, took my blood pressure,
    pulse and temperature and dispensed to me over his desk my medicine with the usual instruction
    "Take 2 table spoons of this cough mixture 3 times a day after meal and this pill when it is bed time
    as it helps you to sleep soundly." Since he is 2 in 1, I didn't have to worry about getting
    the wrong prescription and end up dead. Within 7minutes, I was on my way home and made
    poorer by just RM 1. If they could accept tips, I would be very happy to give each of the staff
    an angpow. But a word of thank was sufficient to make their day as how many patients would thank
    their doctors or nurses when they are ripped of between RM 40 to RM 60 for a simple ailment.

    When I asked the staff nurse why there was no patient around, to my surprise, I learned
    that they see an average of 60 patients a day. If each of them pays RM 1, then the whole day
    the clinic only earns RM 60 compared to a private clinic which could have made the same
    amount from just one patient. But before you folks flock there, there is one thing I want
    to warn you. They don't issue MCs.It is because MCs can only be issued by a medical
    doctor. So don't you think you can get a cheap RM1 MC from them.

    The 1Malaysia Clinic in USJ 1 is located at B1-01-11 and 12, Block B, Pangsa Angsana,
    Persiaran Mewah, USJ1, Subang Jaya. Coming in from Summit Mall, pass by the USJ 8 Balai and
    turn left at the traffic light and head for the USJ Honda 3S Centre (sales, spare parts and
    service) You would have gone through 4 traffic lights before you end up dead in the river. Yeah,
    when I was there I saw one dead - the death of a private clinic which is nearby.

    PCYeoh, thanks for the info.

    I think medical costs have gone up too high in private clinic/hospitals.

    RM 1 won't even buy you a nasi lemak nowadays so it is dirt cheap.

    There are many unscrupulous people who fake sickness every monday so it is good that they don't issue MC.
