Calling All SJK (C) Lick Hung Parents

Thank you for visiting this thread and I assume that you do have a child studying in Lick Hung SS19.

I do have a kid in Year 2 this year. And he had been complaining that the price for the food in the school canteen had increase. I do not mind of price increase as long as it is still reasonable level. BUT!!!! one bowl of noodle they had increase from RM 0.60 to RM 1.00. That is 70% increase. This is mad. And worst, my kid who is in year 6 Lick Hung found out that the operator of the canteen had changed. The question is, does the changes of the operator affect the selling price in the canteen? Who actually is this current operator? Do they go through bidding or someone who are related to the school award them the jobs?

I am here to notify all the Lick Hung student's parents that you have and compulsary to pay extra monies to your kids in order to fill up their stomach and fill up the operator greeds.

Besides I hope that some of the PIBG committee members do click on this thread and start taking action on this matter. And I do remember that I have seen an article before the school starts telling that the canteen operators are not allowed to increase the food price as they like. This statement was made by the Ministry.

So as one of the parents of Lick Hung students, we would like to know what can we do to encounter this matter!

Kindly input some ideas so that other parents do know their rights of what to do next!

The youngest of my children had just left Lick Hung. The previous canteen operator has been around for at least 12 years. So far I have not heard of any complaints. Why the sudden change?

I am not as lucky as you. I do have one on year 2. Still another 4 years to go. Totally agree with you. The previous canteen operator do not have any problem at all. Why sudden change? Only "Lick Hung"-"Peoples" know! And what make things more interesting is, price of food up 70%. Hoo..hoo... its Christmas again.. But one question is, do the salary of these school children parents goes up? Do you think this is proportionate with our living standard? Did the economy bounce back with the things increase of 70%? What happened to our society? What happen to our country guardian? What happen to the people who control those school canteens? Does these loose hand paid by our income tax payer? So many question marks!!!! Never ending... So much so little things, yet still out of control.

What I heard (to be confirmed) from some veteran parents is that the change was as a result of complaints relating to the MONTHLY price increases, apparently was as high as RM65.00 per student by previous operator. I was told the new one charges RM50.00 per month. Then again, I have also heard that cronyism was involved ... well, gossips all over the place. Some parents it seems were happy and some weren't ....
Everyday is a good day for GOOD FOOD and a GOOD LAUGH

You have choices.... eat there or bring your own food. Boycott the canteen

How much does it cost for two slice of bread with jam?

I saw many kids brings big bottle of plain water this afternoon....so does my kids.

When business is bad... they go bankrap... then change to a new one... thats revolution bloodless...

Do you think that parents who used to pay 60 cents last year and now they have to top up another 40 cents for a small bowl of noodle is happy? If so, I think the household of the family is very high income, not the ordinary average income like me. If I earn hundred of thousand a year, I will send my kids to private or international school and stop all the complaints.

I've got 2 with many more years to go. My kids bring food from home most of the time as it's really difficult to buy food at the canteen with so many kids scrambling to buy. They prefer to eating quickly and then talk and play with friends. I really can't comment but my elder boy did say that food is more expensive. It's only 3rd day, guess I'll just have to ensure they hv food to bring each day.....

My kid is in Std 3. I have never encourage her to buy any food from canteen. Besides price, its the lack for nutritional value.

Have been doing this with my other kids who studied there.

Kids been kids, once in a while they do buy. When it happens, I would make them compare prices with outside shops. slowly but surely, they will learn to value of money.

    Same here, agree it works.
Kids need to learn value by themselves because telling them means nothing at all until they live it.

If you all plan to vote all of them out, do remember the number of teachers is quite alot, we must out number them ...this is min task to do, and of coz,
under whatever circumstances must remain united our cause need to be the same .
Our good fren Mr Simon have been doing this all this while but lack of strong backing, ended up like this. his children oredi no more in Lick hung this year.
so we need a leader ( of coz not me la ) back room operation need o start from now, be careful many parents doing spy job for the teacher to get extra mileage for their kids .

School is a place for children to study and learn value. Period.

I am shocked to learn from this thread that teachers and parents have to put on masks to achieve their “goals” in a simple place called school.
