Is there any teacher look after the kids who are morning session but have to stay back and wait to go back at the afternoon session breaks off (due to the co-curriculum or tuitions)? I meant any teacher look after them when they eat and do their homework in school (I guess normally will stay at canteen).

Don't think so. Most kids eats at canteen before afternoon class. And after class, if they're only going back later, they stay at the canteen to do their HW.

oh yes, if you're preparing lunch boxes for your kids, the normal practise is to put them in a 'recognisable' bag with their names/classrooms on it and just leave it at the canteen table. It may look 'messy' but the kids will find it. I used to ask my boy how he manages to find among the hundreds of bags but they just do Hope this helps!

That I was - the worried mum wondering if poor boy found his tar pau lunch. Yup, this is yet another example of kids 'viewing' the world differently from us adults

That is correct - just spoke to one of the teachers this morning and that is what she said. The notice should be out either today or tomorrow according to her.

Look like different teacher has different approach….

I noticed my son’s "home"work is less, much lesser than last year !!

He told me class teacher let them do homework during some “non-critical” classes like art, Math (English)….

I like this approach…. Hope the teacher can continue to let the students have less work at home…

    Bro,

There is good and bad in this approach. The good part as you have clearly mentioned and highlighted is that the children will have less homework as most will be done during the non-critical subject periods.

The bad part is that the so-called non-critical subjects are subjects that deal with the social skills and artistic development of the children. I can understand and accept if the teachers decided to "sacrifice" Science and Maths in English periods for homework since the emphasis by LH is on Mandarin, but I hope they don't do so for the Art, Music and Pendidikan Moral (PM) classes . They may be trivial (as in they are non-exam subjects) but they are critical for the children's more rounded development beyond exam subjects.

Not all parents can afford (both money and time) to send their kids for outside art and music lessons.

Having said that, being an exam-focused and results-oriented SJKC, I guess it should not be surprising at all ....

HaHa, that is not all. I was told that no PJ for last week coz 10 & more students didnt bring their PJ Tshirt. So, everyone has to stay in the class & complete their homework.
On 1 hand, it teaches children to learn to fully utilize time available. On another hand, they may have wrong perception that nothing wrong to skip certain classes.

Yup.. just skip the English Math and English Science classes…

Utilize the time to do homework, to teach English or Art…

    Morning session for all students..

My hope is the new block can be ready in 2nd term (June/July) and all students can go to school in one session..

With this, I hope the school allow students to leave text books, exercise book, etc. in the classroom and only bring back homework and books they want to do revision at home..

The school bag is just too heavy for them by any standard and application.. and they have to carry/drag the bag to upstairs.

To carry such a freaking heavy load of books to school… this is child abuse..
