Daughter received some activity books (under SPBT) fr her teacher on the first day. That's pretty fast. But wonder even activity books are on loan? so they r not allowed to write on it then?

She also started labelling her excercise books under her teacher's guidance. Her 1st day went well, didn't cry or whine.

If my gal is not chosen, i still ok. The programme is quite similar to the fast track programme many years back where students sit for special exam to skip standard 3 and start std 4 right away. of course, better still, drop the programme.

I'm really grateful and feel fortunate to know that my gal is having Ms Leong as class teacher.
Not sure which kindergarden your daughter enrolled which help to prepare her up to Std 2…??

I presume the kindergarden teached BM penulisan and BC penulisan also…

    Oic, thanks Rhiga!

Actually, what will be doing at ko-kulikulum for Std 3? Every class the same or different?

    Bro,

sydneymak is a new Std 1 mummy,so she is still new and does not know the "challenges" and "complexity" of LH's exams. She will come across them very soon.

We can comment and give our opinions because we have gone through the "hurdles" and "obstacles" already . Soon, they will also face the same challenges and then they will know and understand why as "senior" parents, we are so antagonistic towards the idea of a fast-track program of being dubious benefits and value to the children. From our experience, we can only see pain and misery for the kids but from their new perspective, they see opportunities and chances

We can only express our opinions but the final decision rest with them as parents. Remember the incident of the children that were beaten up badly by the Std 2 class teacher last year and after we gave advice, the parents did not update anymore. We were not happy with that but we understand. Back then, like we said, it is the parent's own children and their own decision.

Different parents have different expectations and perceptions of the children's capabilities, we cannot and should not expect them to agree with us as it is not our children. We can only share our opinions, experiences and understanding, the rest is up to them ....

    Sydneymak,

From what I know, the current class teacher for your daughter, Ms Leong Poh Li is an excellent teacher. If possible, may I recommend that you try for your daughter to stay in her class. Even if she gets the fast-track program and Ms Leong is not teaching in it, don't go will be my advice. Parents that I know whose children were taught by her down the years only have good words and praises for her. Yes, you are very lucky to get Ms Leong.

    Totoro,

I asked my son about your enquiries and I got the "classic" LH answer - "poo chee tau" ....

KK*, I think based on what Rhiga has mentioned, sure to be Kokurikulum (KK) since LH tends to use BM or BC for their class timetables based on previous experience.

What to do they do in KK .... ? hehehhee ... this daddy also "poo chee tau" - so just wait and see lor ....

After school morning session today was a back-to-normal SMOOTH OPERATION .... the children were allowed to use the corridors again and Std 3 and 4 were "released" 5 minutes early ....

My son said some of the teachers mentioned that some of the parents have complained about yesterday's fiasco and big massive jam at the gates ....

Yesterday I asked the assistant HM regarding pickup for std 1 rules, she gave an unpleasant look and replied 'I have said so many times, even the class teacher would have informed on the orientation day last fri', she then look at one of the teacher that stood next to her and the teacher agreed. I told her that parents from a distance of the gate can't even hear the announcement and my son class teacher didn't mentioned anything last fri. She asked me what class is my son, I told her 1A and she gave a sarcastic look and I overheard she told the teacher next to her that 1A is a new teacher. No wonder not much information from the teacher and we still haven't got our health card yet. Well, since she's a new teacher we don't know what's coming...can only hope for the best.

Hahaha ... don't let the Asst HM scare you .... she is not like that once you get to know her She is no pussycat either but deep down she cares very much for the children's welfare, safety and well-being

She has to put on a stern front in order to maintain control and discipline over the parents (esp Std 1) and children. You did the right thing to explain the situation. Among the Asst HMs, her job is the toughest in that she has to handle the "new" kan-cheong Std 1 parents and still "undisciplined (by LH standard) Std 1" children ... the morning sessions ones are easier jobs as the children are "grown up" , familiar with the system and most parents have stopped being too "kan cheong" already ...

Make full use of the forum here to ask and share information with the other parents in other classes of the same Std as well as senior parents - you got a few here just starting Std 1 like yourself - sydneymak, BusyMom, elea, tsd, etc .... Just see how myself, Totoro, Birdy, Mommy, Rhiga (Sagamihara) and others interact to "solve" the MYSTERIES of Lick Hung for Std 3 .... latest example being - "What on earth is KK* in the Std 3 time-table ... ? " - see below

We peep my gal while she was waiting for the transporter in the canteen. it was 6.30pm. Yup, really packed with cars. when we decided to go home, we had to Q-up to just to U turn towards Putra Heights.

My girl was singing happily. when she reached home, we asked her how was school. She said,"FUN!" Today i asked again, same answer.....she really enjoys it.

the teacher has distributed all the text book and activity books. I got so paranoid that my girl didn't have mathematic book jilid 1 while the other kids have. i thought my girl lost the book.Luckily after a few call to parents, some of them also didn't get because there are not enough. phew!

CM, of course i will choose Ms Leong more to the fast-track programme. I know how important to have a good teacher because this will affect the children psychologically.

we can write name on the activity books. I remember my schooling time, we only have text book and activity book like these. we never have extra exercise books that we are required to buy from the school book shop. all the SPBT books are enough for us to master the subject . Learn in quality is much better than quantity (just my own opinion)
