I was told about these incidents (across the Stds) each time after the exam results are out.

In every incident, it is the same scenario ... I want to mention it here as I wonder IF this is a SYSTEMATIC TOP-DOWN DIRECTIVE to the teachers.

Parents whose children did not perform well after each exams, related how their children were "humiliated" in class by the teachers and each time, the teachers will tell the children to go home and ask the parents to TRANSFER them out from Lick Hung, so that the school can maintain its "distinguished" record and performance A lot of these children esp the girls went home crying and broke down ...

I hope they realised that they are HARMING THE CHILDREN instead of EDUCATING THEM !!

Imagine telling a 7 or 8 years old child (or even older) that they are "useless" and should get out of the school because they are a disgrace and will harm the school's performance and reputation ... WTF Please tell me WHICH CHILDREN DO NOT WANT TO DO WELL ? Every child wants to score, so encourage them to try their best, coax them to excel, not "rubbish" them ....

Imagine the NEGATIVE PSYCHOLOGICAL IMPACT on the children ....

To ALL Lick Hung Teachers, no matter what you may be directed to do, I beg you, PLEASE DON'T DO THIS, ...

They are somebody's children too. Help them, encourage them, tell them to go for tuition, extra classes etc ... but don't condemn them like this and at such young age.

I hate to think that one day, if this continues to the extreme, one child may just JUMP/COMMIT SUICIDE and the blood will be on your hands .... getting 7As and 100% passes are NOT WORTH A CHILD'S LIFE .... PLEASE THINK ... thank you !!
It's really heartbreaking to hear this ...

This is a failure of Chinese school…

It is wrong at the roots, the fundamental reason of sending children for education has been distorted.

Hard to blame anyone specifically although the school’s emphasis is definitely the main culprit…

If I have to choose one to blame… just blame everybody in this society where performance/achievement is regarded as the universal value for measurement..

The parents did not say so, probably embarrassed, but I ASSUME that it may be in the FAILING marks category, less than 40% ?

Support CM's plead to the teachers, PLEASE DON'T DO THAT TO THE CHILDREN !!!

We are already being deprived/oppressed by this country education system, and a lot are still standing by the school giving supports in any ways we can, trying to help (the dong zhong, jiao zhong, parents, .. stranger A, B, C ...).

Please be a good teacher, be a good '人类灵魂工程师' (human sole engineer), help the children and not the other way round, and collect good karma for your life. I always believe teachers & HM are those who are closest to heaven as they have one the most noble job in the world.

Would like to share this (I read from Sin Chew):

    Translation:
A new teacher joined a school and the headmaster told him this:

"You must treat students who score 100 well, because next time they will become scientists.
You must treat students who score 80 well, because next time they might be your colleagues.
You must treat students who fail well also, because next time they will donate to school.
You must treat students who cheat in their exam well also, because next time they might be the country politician.
For those who quit and not finish their studies, you have to treat them well also, because they might be another Bill Gates or Steve Jobs"

Have a nice long weekend !

I also got a PM telling me that it is not just Lick Hung, another "competitive" SJKC in USJ (name witheld as I have no intention of getting into the other school's matter when I am not a parent there) also conduct such similar practices .

Currymee, this matter happened everywhere and not just this area alone. The fact is " 山中有直树, 世上无(正)直人 ".

Based on a few more emails and PMs that I got on this topic, I am getting an impression that there seems to be some sort of a "rivaly" between the 2 SJKC Emperors of Subang Jaya and USJ to be Numero Uno.

Well, if you two old men want to see who is more "keng", go and wear BOXING gloves and beat each other to pulp for all I care - LEAVE THE TEACHERS and KIDS ALONE !!

I got one mother mentioning that both SK schools near the SJKCs are very unhappy that the SJKCs are dumping all their non-performers to them !! (Note: She said she is a PIBG AJK of one of the SK schools). She implied that the SK schools really hate their neighbours for treating them as "sekolah buangan" (dropout schools) !!

I got one email complaining (I think she is a LH school teacher - "Well, good afternoon, lausi" ) that I am always highlighting the NEGATIVE aspect of Lick Hung and not much of the GOOD and POSITIVE like producing top-notch students and providing best of standard education among SJKCs.

She mentioned that I should be appreciative of the good education that my son is obviously getting from the school teachers. I should also be thankful that my son is not one of the "poor" students that teachers have to "vomit blood" to teach with indiscipline problem. She said most teachers use this "scare method" to get the poor students to buck-up and study, otherwise Lick Hung will just end up like the "so-so" SK schools with lax discipline and "so-so" performances.

For the record, let me say that I have the BEST INTEREST of Lick Hung (as my children's primary school) at heart I would like to see the school tops not only in terms of performance and academic achievements but also in terms of becoming an educational place that nurture good values and moral. If there is anything that I see as lacking or can be improved further, I will highlight it here for ALL TO SEE and READ, parents, students, teachers, HM, PIBG AJK etc ...

I know that the school management prefers all discussions to be kept private but experience and also feedbacks from other parents have shown that the school management does not take any suggestions or ideas seriously - just go and listen to the PIBG AGM and hear the responses from HM and PIBG AJK, you will know what I mean. As far as they are concerned, parents are just ATM machines for money, to be seen and not heard !

What I am saying may not paint the school in the best light at times but please do not doubt my sincerity in wanting to make the school as good as it can and should be ....

Did anybody attend the KSSR talk in Sentul last month? I met one parent from Gombak recently who attended the talk and she mentioned that the schools and even education dep still not quite clear about how this KSSR works. And they even commented that still few more years to reach std 6, therefore they have yet to come out with firm guildelines on how this system should be. Big portion of the final std 6 scores will be taken from the every year performance starting std 1. How would we know if the school doesn't explain what are the things that contribute to the final results each year until the kids reach std 6? Can anybody share further regarding how KSSR works?

According to one mum, whose daughter is from Kuen Cheng, it is the Singaporean St Nicholas (girls) and Chung Hwa (boys) scholarship exams. Apparently, LH is the examination centre for Klang Valley area.

The candidates were pretty stressed out and so were the parents by the look of their faces as they wait in the school canteen !! I was at the school to help fetch my neighbour's son home from his daibolo training, poor guy's car kaput this morning !!

The Kuen Cheng mum asked me if I plan to let my son try when he gets to Std 6, I just said NO, too young, I like to keep him with me until 17-18 years old, hahahahaha ....

Single-session notice to be out soon

I was informed by a mum just now that the school will be issuing an official notice soon (either this week or next) on the implementation of the single-session.

This Std 6 mum has been a pretty reliable source of information to date

As I dropped my son off to school this morning, the new school gates are up and so is the wall, looks very NICE and PRETTY too Would look even better with some trees and shrubs, a bit shadier and not so "hot" with all the concrete ... I heard the furniture are coming in (or already in) ... looks like we are ALL SET !!

I asked him, "You want me to wake up at 6am on Saturday to take you for a "march" around the stadium ????????? " He said yes together with a few of his classmates.
