Normally transporter is running for 2 sessions, morning & afternoon sessions. Now for only one single morning session, I think it is difficult for them to fit all the pupils of 2 sessions into one transport.

Do you think they will force to abandon some pupils?

Like that, I suggest you talk to the aunties first and now and see what are their plans and solutions ... never underestimate the transporter aunties ... wily old foxes and "tank" drivers too !!!

Any CONFIRMED news on Single-Session starting next term ?

So far no notice given out yet. Will keep the community here posted if there is any.

I really hope the school could consider starting the single session next year because as many parents here have mentioned, arrangements have been made and the kids have finally settled in with the routine. Furthermore, there are other things besides equipping the classrooms with tables/chairs that they should really look into like having a good traffic flow control system etc. Maybe the school management are currently working hard on planning for the single session...so, thank you LH.

But since this affects everyone....the students, parents, teachers, transporter etc. Hope there is some form of communication circulated progressively to everyone.

Oh yes...i have to say this......HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all students, teachers and parents! We ALL need this break

JUST JOKING - I think it is EASIER to STRIKE LOTTERY and GET HIT BY LIGHTNING than to solve the traffic problem in front of Lick Hung (or any SJKC nationwide!)

My son brought back a piece of paper about Tuition Time-table for year 2012. He said his English teacher pass to them. The tuition is for std1-4, all 5 subjects, even can arrange transport for some extra fee. Anybody receive such notice?

My son is starting LH standard 1 next year. It scare me to read that in LH educating the kids is done by the parents and tuition centres. Is this really true?

IF I am being HONESTLY BLUNT then my answer is YES, it is true for some subjects esp English and BM, for God knows whatever reasons, they just cannot teach BM and English well enough to meet my standard. I gave up on the school on them and teach my son myself.

However, in subjects like Science and Maths, the LH teachers are GREAT at them., so no worries here.

Mandarin is a funny one, they teach the kids enough to pass the exams and score a "B" or "C" BUT to "ace" the exams, you need to go EXTRA ....

Hi CM, Thanks. Your explanations really help me feel a little better. I actually make some effort to get my son into LH like moving to SS19 by end of this year. I am a little worry if I had make the wrong decision. Both my husband and I do not know any mandarin. Hence, it worry me if the school is not doing their part properly.

Let me be BRUTALLY FRANK - make sure you get your son a MANDARIN TUITION TEACHER/CENTRE from DAY ONE ONWARDS if both parents are non-Mandarin savy - don't hesistate, don't think twice, don't try-try and don't even think the school will help. (Note: It is not only at Lick Hung, it is the same at all SJKCs esp those in SJ/USJ)

    Why ?

Speed, depth and homework esp from Std 1 to Std 3 !! If they survive and do well until Std 3, they will be OK, as by then, they will have mastered almost 80% of the Chinese characters required.

The speed and depth of Mandarin being taught at LH is "CRAZY", even my wife who is 100% Mandarin savvy and "aced" her Mandarin exams at all exam levels, was struggling TO TEACH my son to cope and my son is in the top 10 of his class in Mandarin as well !! And his BC Penulisan going to the dog-house as well. So, you can imagine the challenge ahead.

I am not saying that it is impossible for non-Mandarin speaking parents and children to do well, I know a few children who has done excellently well and when I asked the mums, their answers were 2-hours DAILY TUITION in Mandarin where homework are also being taught and checked.

So, BE PREPARED. I know a few children in my son's class who had dropped out as a result of their inability to cope with this KEY CHALLENGE !
