I live in USJ 11. I installed my streamyx connection about 2 months ago and have been quite happy with its performance. If you want further info, you may go to http://www.usj.com.my/forum/Forum4/HTML/000078.html for past feedback.

As at October 18, I was told by the top management of TmNet
that there were about 30 wireless Streamyx users in Subang
    Jaya-USJ.

There are already some 20,000 Streamyx users around the
country, with the Klang Valley being the most concentrated, and
Malacca as the stongest growth area.

Thanks TMNet, problems in Subang Jaya-USJ highlighted in this
    website have been minimised.

Also, the CEO and senior GM of corporate development, who both
stay in USJ, do give it extra attention whenever we feedback to
    them.

I was a bit concerned about lightning strike. I guess most of the streamyx users will let their pc on most of the time regardless they are at work or not at home. What is the best protection someone can have againts it? I mean sometimes lightning strike can "barbeque" your modem.

When telekom said that there is no more ports available, what do they actually refered to? I understand that there has to be a exchange port at a distance of at least 5 km from our house in order to install streamyx. For example:

Person A, stay in USJ4, apply for streamyx last month, still waiting for new ports at his area.

Person B, stay in USJ5, apply for streamyx last week, but there are empty ports at his area.

Does this means that person B will get streamyx first?

it might take longer than that

there was a time where the subscribers were told this:
it will be taking just 1 week to get your home installed with the broad band streamyx service.
and this happened when the promotion was on the street.

    i was told this:
u'll be needed to wait approximately a month.
that was when the 2nd month of the promotion went on as i was subscribing streamyx.

    now:
subscribers must wait at least 3 or 4 months.
[as what i saw on posts]

Good news. You need not go all the way to Taman Megah/Mayang to do all your TMnet/ Telekom transaction because they are at our door steps today. Last week, Proxus Communications have setup a service outlet especially to cater to the needs of the residents of SJ/USJ for subscription of
TMnet and the traditional basic Telekom Malaysia services. It is located at :

Ground Floor, 22-1 Jalan USJ9/5P (near to the MPSJ Hypermedia Library)

    SUBANG BUSINESS CENTRE

    47620 UEP Subang Jaya

    Tel: 03-8026 0228

    Fax: 03-8024 3711

    Business hours (initial):
9.00 am to 7.00 pm (Mondays to Fridays)
    9.00 am to 1.00 pm (Saturday except 1st & 3rd banking holidays)

Among the services provided are application of telephone services, registration of tmnet 1515, 1525 and streamyx broadband services (including wireless broadband for residents in USJ 4,5,6 and 9,10,11 only), purchase of tmnet, prepaid and reload cards and soon payment of telephone and tmnet bills.

The outlet is also carrying Aztech ADSL, 56K, USB modems, SMC broadband routers and wireless access points and other Internet related products.

Currently, the signage has not been put up due to the long Hari Raya break but otherwise the outlet is fully operational. More services will be added in the near future.

The outlet is fully staffed with 3 friendly customer service officers, a sales manager and a network technician who can provide installation of internet and broadband related services.

I have spoken to the equally friendly boss, Mr Victor Chong to stay open on all Saturdays till 5pm or else they will be another Telekom Malaysia to us. The timing should be to the convenient of its customers. I know it would be a herculean task for him but he said he would look into this.

If you have any queries or need any help, do contact them or better still drop in to know them better.

Although Streamyx was installed at my place somewhere around mid October this year, the bill for installation, October, November and December 2002 all in one came just a week ago. However, Telekom conveniently suspended my line the day they sent out the bill to me leaving me wondering whether their server was down for the last 5 days or so. I finally made enquiry and was told to settle the bill first and call them up to re-activate the line. I feel this form of service is very rude and very unbecoming. I believe there can be better ways to treat customers but certainly not this way.

that kind of connection happens to me all the while... clarence
how it happens is that :
whenever you leave the pc goes online and you never touch it
in more or less an hour, it is automatically disconnected.

and whenever you refer the problems to them, there is always no solution for your problems.
one year contract is really irritating, but we have no choice.

overally, i'm satisfied by its speed of connection but don't seem to like their services as in the way they update our bills and payments.

I have been using streamyx for the last 2 months, I was wondering if the speed of 10,000,000bps is consider good for streamyx?
I also have problems like clarence & drewkool, the line do not disconnect but jam up if you leave it too long, I have to redial again to sort out the problem, but lately i installed a firewall for the last few days, i do not get this problem anymore or i hope.

Anybody encounter this funny problem? (For Hyundai modem user)

When you turn on the modem, there is no light on the LED for the "link". Normally, there will be light, until you connected to streamyx, the LED will start blinking.

Also, when this occurs, I can't connect to streamyx...

    Hi All,

I'm not on broadband yet....still musing over the various hiccups posted here...

Anyway, if you're on broadband, perhaps this link:-

    www.dslreports.com/forums/all

may help you get to know more about broadband and its technicalities - in layman language.

You may try the broadband tweaks chat room first - don't forget to read its FAQ first - worth it! You can test your line connections and perhaps pick up some pointers on your existing connection problems.

Then you can proceed to the security, networking or wireless networking chat rooms.

You can literally spent productive hours here....!

Oh....(shameless plug here!)...don't forget to come back to good ole usj.com.my after you have spent some time in dslreports!.....-

    Cheers and good luck!
