    UEC Exam Results Recognition

My wife's niece just got her UEC Exam results. Heard that it was equivalent to A level exams. Result quite good but when I asked her whether she has already checked with the school which colleges or Universities out there that officially recognised UEC exam results, she doesn't know.

Would appreciate very much your positive input on this. Thanks.

Most Private Colleges would recognise it.

If she wants to do Medicine or Dentistry, then there would be a problem if she wants to pursue it overseas but plans to return to Malaysia to work.

This is because, when you plan to do Medicine or Dentistry overseas, you are required to get a NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE (NOC) from Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).

MOHE would not give you a NOC if you do not have a Credit in BM at SPM level.

For any other studies, there should be no problem. Just approach any reputable college and speak to their counsellors, they would be able to advice you.

Ask her to visit the following link

Many UEC cert holders might also have the SPM cert. BM may not be an issue.

Years ago, NUS accept UEC for degree courses. MACEE has a talk on 21/12/09 on Uni application, why not ask her to attend?

NUS, NTU and most British U's accept UEC.

In fact, in my college, we 'look up' to UEC cert holders.

Why? Is it because they have less problems with the syllabus?

During my time, I remember the syllabus was very tough. I recalled my First Junior Three algebra test I got only 22 marks, it was really embrassing! The Chemistry was no better, even the SMK secondary Science teacher can't help, she said it was of Form 5 standard.
Last year, a friend wanted to transfer her son to Chinese secondary school, but her son couldn't not get through the qualifying test though he score 7As in PMR.
