    Single malt whiskey appreciation

recently there has been quite a number of single malt whiskeys available in malaysia and the general preference of whiskey drinkers are migrating in that direction from blended ...my favorites as far as the lower budget end are:

    1) Glenlivet 12 years
    2) Macallens 12 years

care to add any or recommend others?
    regards

recently attended a party and the few served were
    1) Old pultney 12
    2) Dewmore 12
    3) Macellens 30 (this is beyond luxury at rm3500/70cl bottle)
    4) Talisker 10 (blended malt)...too woody for me

    regards

I know a place you can go to for the biggest selection of Single Malt Whisky's. PM me if you want to know where. Its a nice pub/bistro in Kelana Jaya overlooking the lake.
Peaceful, yummy food and the widest selection of single malts.

Yup... Glenfiddich... available in many different sizes including 2-litre ones. Can get good pricing at Changi Airport Terminal 2.

Guys... my take is that the best place to buy these single malts is at the duty-free shop at Changi Terminal 2 during promotional periods. But you need to travel with a partner, your wifey perhaps, because most of the promotions involve "Buying 2 Bottles" and Malaysia only allows 1 bottle per traveller and you must already be in Singapore for more than 48 hours stay...

Brunei is a Muslim country where there is no alcohol served 'publicly' but yet they allow 2 bottles per traveller...

Labuan is also good for single malt buying but just be very careful because there are some brands which are fake esp Chivas Regal 12 years blend and Johhnie Walker Black Label 12 years...

San Miguel beer in cans is only RM1 per can on weekdays... hic!

i think the Glenlivet 12 RM125 is still the best single malt or rather best bang for the buck...we should organise a tasting at a TT soon..whatever is not used can be taken back

(all this while sipping the Glenlivet archive 21 with two drops of water...ha ha)

Due serious adulteration on single malt whisky, I go for Old Parr and any other not famous whisky brand. Thats the advice I got from the distributor, even they are at odds over this problem.
