I used to ask that question too! But strangely, my grand niece who was here very recently on holiday, bought a few paperback novels. When I asked her if it isnt cheaper to buy in London, she said it's cheaper here ! I was stumped!! In fact, I have hardly bought books these days as I find them far too exorbitant!!

For Subang Jaya it certainly is.

I think the USJ19 digital mall is a good site for USJ & putra hieghts residents - especially since it is far enough away from the more jammed areas of Pers. Kewajipan.

Can''t be lah, Patrick. I buy books everywhere I go, mainly at airport lounges, the cheapest books are in the US and yes... the little red dot city in the south. I just bought The Innocent Man by John Grisham for USD7.99 and the price at MPH Gurney Plaza here in Penang says MYR59.80.... I also bought Dan Brown's Deception Point for MYR60.90 but it was only SGD18.80 down at Changi Terminal 2....

Certain books are published in hardcover for "richer" countries and paperback form for "poorer" countries. For textbooks there are "low-priced editions" only for sale in developing countries. So it is not surprising certain books are cheaper here compared to UK.

Hi guys,

I'm the councillor that Moaz mentioned. I think its an interesting idea, even though i can hardly find the time to read nowadays. How can MPSJ or JKP Zone 3 be of help to get this started (p.s. this is not a blank cheque, but I'd like to do what I can to help

We need a space big enough for families to meet every Sunday afternoon say from 2 - 6 pm in an airconditioned hall with chairs and tables and perhaps 1 or 2 water coolers. This is to allow them to exchange books, get to know each other too... good for community bond-building.

No, it was definitely a novel. Let me try to check on the title and even the price in UK and here. Just for academic interest.

To start the ball rolling Mr. Councillor, can u please find some nice souls within SJ community plus MPSJ guys to find a disable friendly/family friendly/singles friendly place that doesn’t COST a bom. Then round up all the guys/gals who have showed a keen interest (including me as well) to pool their ‘brain-power’ together. Pisto, something will surely materialized – for sure.

Please start working on it as soon as possible & don’t file it up in your office. TQ
