While I was overseas the American Women's Association ran a book exchange corner every month during their meetings. Everyone who brings in a book is given a chit which they hand in when they take another book. The chit states the number of books they can take i.e. if you bring 3 books than you can take 3 books.

This is an exchange (some just give away their books), you don't expect to take back your books so no need to register etc n etc. But one person needs to volunteer to keep the leftover books till the next meeting. The books were usually lined up in 4" deep plastic trays.

It is better to have book fair and sell the book there at cheap price; so we can sell our books and buy from others. This is fair to all.

Be careful about buying and selling like a book fair, organiser must apply for licence/permit from MPSJ - if I am not mistaken

We can have a exchange book programme here! First we create a database of all the books that members own. Then we post the link here so the members can view the database and do the exchange via our special thread setup thru this forum.

    See you guys then!
I'll be there. How's the condition of the cabin? Does it need some simple cleaning work?

Despite poor attendance, it was still nice to meet up with some forumers and Rajiv. Managed to exchange a book and 'sapu' all of Patrick's magazines. Will bring them to the next Exchange for more....

I have loads of Enid Blyton's books that I can loan to those with young children who like reading them. Am also looking to exchanging romance, thrillers, fantasy books. So, see you people at the next Exchange??

Glad to meet everyone. We had a nice chat under the yum yum tree! All the nice folks were there ie. MWong with daughter Nadia, Carolrasiah, Jecy, Chang and Councillor Rajiv. Suggestion: why not make it every First Sunday of the month unless there is a change due to extenuating circumstances. That way, everyone will remember after a little while.

Getting to know each other on a nice sunday afternoon.

So guys, shall we make this a weekly affair, every Sunday? or a once a month gathering?
I plan to get a bookshelf there, so in the future, if anyone prefers, they can leave their books there...

    Let's Make This Work

Rajiv, let's have this every 1st Sunday of the month at 4pm-5pm? So, the next session is on this Sunday, 1st Nov., yes?

Now we have a nice place, a committed Councillor who is so supportive and is even spending his rest day to come for the exchange and make sure the cabin is unlocked for our usage. We just need more members to really get this to work. Will I see you ladies & gentlemen this Sunday?
