it's not difficult to do..just like playdough..and a little imagination helps.this is actually my first time!!! it's fun.
only thing is..our weather, high humidity makes it a pain. the fondant pieces goes all sticky and won't dry. unless you work in an air con place. if you can't ice a cake, use a chocolate ganache topping, just pour over the cake and leave it!!! kau tim.

Pic 1 - Lack of depth. Use aperture 5.6 to 8. Pic not very sharp on my uncalibrated screen. Suggest to reduce size from ori. Sharpen then Save.
If the camera have macro mode.... use it.
Pic 2 - Composition - The tray. Lighting - have some shadows. Activate the flash? of position the tray near the window or outside the house.

Taking a photo of food is difficult enough. Try to make it look delicious or interesting takes another level of artistry. The colour is really striking and there is a lot of interesting little shapes to see. The images made me stop and explore the image. It's really nice and colourful.
Just to add on to what fRaNkY has wrote:
(These are just technical nit picking which does not take anything away from the great pics) The image is slight blurry because of the subject is closer than the minimum focusing distance of the lense. A macro lense would be much better; else step back, take the shot and crop during post processing. Also the shutter speed is lower than 1/focal length, which cause a slight motion blur. The ISO1600 would contribute some graining to the pics. And lastly watch your blue and green channel when you post process.
Anyway the pictures are great and that what matters. If you're making it again let us know in advance. There is this hungry camera hobbyist....
