MAXIS signal arounf USJ2/5 area

I am absolutely pissed with the signal strength, if I am lucky to get any line at all, at home in USJ2 nowadays.

I have been missing calls, having interrupted calls, calls failed, for the past few months. Most time, signal strength is either extremely weak or non existing.

Anyone knows why? Anyone else having the same problem?

Having the same problem in Cheras. Either no line at all, interrupted calls, sms that comes few hours later.....just name it.
Complained many times but services are still the same.

Last weekend, Maxis was down from usj2 and usj4, while my digi was OK all the way.

My office area at USJ4 had very bad maxis reception yesterday noon time. I think it was restored abt 3/4pm.

I am having the same problem at USJ 3/1 area for last few weeks. I have called and complained but nothing can be done for time being. They are looking for site to build a new tower.

Yesterday was the worst. I cannot get lien but kept on getting missed calls sms.

I called 1919 and spoke to a Raj at ext. 26015 who asked all kind of question including what phone model am i using. I gave him an earful and asked to speak to his supervisor who of course was in a meeting. He told me my queries will be answered in 3-4 days. I was already furious since I do not see any reason why i should pay for non existing service, and have to wait for answers as well.

i called back 6 hours later since i did not get a return call.

a En. Azli called back and after i nearly tore his head off, he said the poor signal was due to the fact that the tower at USJ5 was being dismantled. I asked him what will happen once the tower and equipment is completely gone. He will not answer. I asked whether there will still be signal for USJ2 area; again he will not comment. I asked whether I should change to another network operator, again he will not comment.

I asked when will this problem be solved; again no answer. In fact, the fault was thrown back to the residents at USJ5 who demanded the tower to be brought down!!

Folks, looks like postpaid people like me will have to change to another operator since maxis does not give a hoot whether there is coverage or not. After 15 years with Maxis and the same number, there is absolutely no relationship!!

Had a similar problem about three weeks ago in USJ 6. Suddenly at about 9.00 pm I couldn't make or receive calls. Thought that my handphone was conked out. Chencked it with Nokia in Sunway Pyramid the next day. It's ok. Went back problem still there. Called up Maxis and they admitted there was a problem with their network. What the .. apparently when we use 3G service together with normal service it will cause interuption. Had to set my network mode in the hp to GSM. I am only using my 3G service while in the office. Maxis system sucks. My wife's DiGi service seems ok.

This has been going on for quite sometime now, the Maxis Signal is really bad in many areas.

I have a feeling that Maxis is doing this deliberately as calls and SMSes are not the present cash cows.

They are more interested in sending out Commericial messages to make additional bucks and trying to push everyone to using 3G etc..

Instead of improving with age, the Telcos in Malaysia are taking a step back. A real disgrace if you ask me.

If the service is no good, change to another operator, you can still retain your old number (with 012 prefix).
But just a word of warning, the other operator's service may be worse. So to be on the safe side, I would suggest you buy a pre-paid pack and try out the service in the area where you stay/work. If the coverage is OK, then make the switch. Talking to them (through the so-called helpline) will only increase your blood pressure and risk of stroke/heart attack.

If by service you mean signal strength and availability, I still vouch for Celcom. I had been in a few areas where Maxis had weak or non-existent signal and my Celcom line was fine. Face it folks, Celcom coverage is actually the best of the 3 telcos.

However, when I tried to enquire about their family package, I had a frustrating time with their helpline because they don't know enough of their own services to give me correct answers ... but that is another topic altogether.

Dear Mr. CXXXX,

Reference is made to our telephone conversation of this morning regarding to the coverage in USJ.

We had acknowledged that the site has been dismantled since 13 February 2009 by the local council on complains received from the residents. We are in the midst of sourcing for a new location to commission this new site to enhance the network coverage. There are some challenges faced in regards to this pertaining to the relevant approvals and we are working on these accordingly.

At this juncture, we are unable to confirm on any firm dates or timelines as to when the service experience will be improved.
