Hi, Can anyone give recommendation on Betong, Thailand?
The last time I was there was more than 10 years ago in a tour group and I cannot remember much except that I went to a shooting range and enjoyed myself there. Where is the shooting range? Name & Address? Entrance fee? Shooting fees?
Also,... the tunnels. I did not visit at that time but I would like to visit. Any idea where?
Besides the above any other sights/attractions, besides the obvious?
I will be driving there this Saturday.

if not mistaken..is off Gerik highway...
the tunnel is actually a tunnel used by the communist during WW2... if i am not mistaken... the owner of the resort there is actually ex-communist...

its 420 km from subang parade...245km marker turn towards k.kangsar> Lenggong>Grik>Pengkalan Hulu> betong.
Once in betong, u head 7km east towards yala, to the hot spring for a soak. U can also move 2km inland from the hot spring to to a waterfalls, and along the same road,u can find the commie tunnels.
Y u wanna go to the firing range? There is no more firing range.
Remember that southern thailand is classified as a 'restive' area.
Know too that yr bolehland mobile cannot work in betong.
After a good hot & cold free soak, pamper thyself to:
- massage baht250/2hr then
- aharn thai, then go bar hopping
- cheap beer baht11/big bottle heineken and
- eye candies dancing girls...see free, no touch. Otherwise baht100/touch

The tunnels are still there though I cant direct you. Ask around. I am sure the folks would be able to direct you. It's not that far off.

There's not really a lot to see or do in Betong, which is a mini Hatyai (1/5 the size probably).

Thanks too to Tehmc for the informative links. I can' remember the last time I was there, prob mid to late 90's. I can remember the mailbox by the roundabout but that's just about all, other than the obvious.
This Saturday am driving up with wifey who wants to have look see and some minor shopping.

Yes you do. If you were born in or carry an address in the states bordering Thailand you can apply for a 6 month border pass. Only 1 hr and RM10.00.

Did you drive your car all the way into Betong ? and if yes...what are the legal papers required by Thai/Malaysian authorities?
