buddies - any suggestions where to stay at Cameron Highlands... please... [for family of 6]
just wanna get out of the city for the [next] Sun weekend....
*just a reminder, its the school break - therefore the hotels/chalets/motels/resthouses have taken out the scapels [knives!] ....

Ask around the shops at Tanah Rata town. Last I know, they own some fully furnished apartments/properties which are like RM300 per day to big groups. I was even shown photos of the place at that shop. The price should be down when off peak.
This is one of them. They are an established provision shop along the Tanah Rata main road. Just realized they have a webpage.. golly!

Carnation Park is at Jasar valley, I stayed there a long time ago in the 70's.. just outside of town.

The deluxe room in Century Pines Resort is quite nice.....peak price at RM238 nett if I recall correctly. Bedsize is super king. Booking at the cameronhighlands website gives you better value than the official hotel website. The duplex deluxe is much better, but at a premium price.
1(+1) or 2 room apartment in Strawberry Park can be considered as well but the place looks a bit tired. The Casa Del La Rosa is also another possible option.
Some people are just average, others are just mean.

Someone I know has a fully furnished apartment for rent. Suitable for medium to large families.
Can't say I know him (actually 2 persons) very well. One of them is owner of a tyre shop where I go regularly and the other is the owner of a food stall. Many times they have asked me to stay there at their apartment, but no time so I am unable to give any review about the place.
The rental amount you can talk direct to him.
If you want I can pm you the numbers.
P/S: I have absolutely no interest in this and even if I am offered a "commission" by them I will refuse.

average prices running from RM350-450 per night... 21 hrs [ check-in 3pm, kicked out 12noon.. ]
now get this... for one hotel, charges for Malaysians (and Singaporeans) are higher compared to prices for the tourists from the rest of Asia.. I kid you not!!

Haven't been to C Hlands for a decade!!!! For those who had been there recently, please forward some feedbacks...hows the climate there now? IS it still as cold as it use to be?
Ths deal at the Carnation Park seem reasonable esp for family of 6 - 8 ...Can bring inflatable mattresses....no need pay for extra beds. Any idea how far is this place from the tea plantation and other tourist spots like rose gardens and stuff??? Thought of bringing my family and nephews there.

Hi all...
.... just an small update/info from our family trip up to CH last week...
.... we took the Simpang Pulai [EXIT] route up to CH instead of the Tapah [EXIT] as mentioned by various internet sites and was quite suprised by the drive up... pleasant, easy drive up dotted by a quite a few restaurants and sights... less winding and curving road though compared to the Tapah route.
[saw the aftermath of a bad motorcycle/taxi head-on accident that spoilt the otherwise uneventful trip up....]
Do note that signboards/signages are the usual Malaysian crap... no help until you've passed the actual turn or highlight! So keep a lookout for Brinchang turnoff [right turn] once you've passed the strawberry farms or you'd end up in Gua Musang...
Food is well... acceptably priced - but be warned about the "fly season". We had stopped at a "Strawberry", "hydrophonic" farm and had wanted to have lunch there .... to tell you the truth - the flies was ALL OVER THE PLACE... and that freaked us out because God only knows if them flies had gone and visited the local manure/fertilizer pile first before resting on our lunches....
We split that scene pretty kwik and headed to Brinchang... and checked into the Equatorial apartments... a neat 2 bedroom apartment with living room and basic amenities. But be warned... if you are requesting for extra towels/ room slippers etc etc... THEY WILL CHARGE YOU. So bring your own...
Cabut out of the apartment to do a little drive around/sight seeing.... and GOT LOST !

Went scouting around and must say - veges are cheap as hell...anyway, just pass/off the Equatorial - there is an area where they sell veges and fruits and flowers... but do be careful about going overboard with 'bargains' The stalls on the inner road would sell you veges like 14-20packets for RM10 but half of the packets are not... well, worth your money! Better to buy loose or non prepacked ones... it is still cheaper than getting it in USJ.
Brinchang town oso got daily pasar tani / pasar malam near the police station.... so be prepared for a mini-gridlock near the town 'centre'...
Found a nice 'steamboat' joint for makan... and it was like RM15 per head... food was generously portion and if you call in [rsvp] you'll get a 10% disc. Parking was pretty good too... Anyway, there is lots of accomodation options in Brinchang too... One place we saw, was a hotel that said RM88 nett per rooom; another was 2-br apartment - going for 168nett... Places looked pretty decent but we didn't go inquire further cos already checked in at the Equatorial...
Had breakfast at the Equatorial and then went driving around... looking for tea plantations and [Robinson] waterfalls... again, signboards were like [bleep!] The Robinson waterfalls sign was clumped together with every darn Govt agencies in the area... that you'd guarantee to miss it.... Drove passed it until we got to Barrat Tea Plantation Valley... and was told that we had to go back to Tanah Rata, make a right at the Central Bus Station and drive in... [ok, we saw that darn waterfalls sign while driving in...] Drove in and next thing you know - you're in the hospital grounds.... No a sign in sight to indicate a waterfalls.. sheeeesh! Drove out and saw a 'big' stream of water and bridge... so turned left....and drove into this 'sand-track' .... and up ahead... saw this small sign that said 'Robinson falls'.... aik! trekking again...!
Came out and found it quaint little cafe above Merrybrown restaurant called "T-cafe"... the nasi goreng was yummm and so was the rest of the menu... again prices was pretty reasonable!! The scones..... another yumm!!

After checking out from Equatorial... drove to a Bee farm to see the bees... well, it was more like boxes that contained bees... Since it was raining/drizzling - the bees decided to take the 'day off'... so no bees... Went to a Butterfly farm instead... hmmm, got entrance fees... Adults RM4, Kids RM 2.... what the heck, paid and entered... and guess what... the Butterfly farm got... insects and bugs and snakes and other stuff on display too... one scary thing though, some of the glass cabinets was soooo rickety that you'd think that the snakes could just escape if they wanted to...
Had tea and then decided to scoot back to KL since got nothing else to do in Cameron Highlands... decided to use the Tapah route instead. And yup... still winding and curving all the way down... with the darn 20' stacked high vegs lorries driving slowly down and could care less if 20 or more cars were stuck behind them... which some drivers decided to tempt fate by OVERTAKING a string of cars before forcing themselves in when got oncoming traffic... thankfully that day - no horrible pile-ups...
Left Cameron Highlands at 3pm and got into KL at 6pm... with a little stop at the Tapah R&R to buy fruits and titbits...
Oh... forgot to mention, had used the Guthrie Expressway... that helped to shave a chunk of time off the journey - though you'd kena tolled 1.40 x 3 before hitting the NSE...
