I'm glad she raised this matter:

    Extracted from her website.

∑ Selection of councillors is to be done more cautiously and the State Government is to only appoint councillors who have time to meet and serve the residents. Based on my observation, although each councillor in MPSJ has been given a laptop, there are still councillors who do not check and reply emails. Some do not even reply to smsí and phone calls. These councillors must be replaced with appointees who have the passion of public service and possess the sincerity in serving the needs of the residents.

I sent an email to the Zone 1 Councillor (Theresa) and the ADUN regarding the issues at SS16.
The recent postings about traffic problems in SS16 near the new towers has got my attention.

The issue is related to the new walkway + drain covering in front of the Subang Ave. project - which makes it tough to access the buildings of e-tiara and Casa Tiara from Jalan Kemajuan Subang.

I believe that part of the issue is that sightlines are disrupted because of RapidKL buses that wait at the stop in front of Carrefour. When driving past the Carrefour I missed the entrance to e-tiara because of a bus that was blocking my way.

When coming out from e-tiara at the entrance in front of Subang Ave. I could not see if there was any traffic because that same bus was blocking the sight line.

When the Subang-Kelana link on-ramp from Jalan Kemajuan is opened, there will be even more traffic and even greater problems.

That is why I think now is the time to get a dialogue going with residents, developers, and RapidKL to see what solutions can be found.

I think that one solution would be to create a single contra flow lane on Jalan Jengka next to Subang Parade, for buses only.

The west entrance of Subang Parade and the area behind Subang Parade could then be used as a bus stop and waiting / staging area while the Carrefour bus stop can be used as a bus stop exclusively.

In any case, please let me know if there is interest in this discussion.
    The reply from Theresa
Thank you Mr M--- for your observations on the matter. MPSJ is sorting the matter out due to the complexity of the matter. We have made three site visits these past two weeks and are awaiting feedback from the Developers in the area before traffic is further managed in that area.

Thank you once again ... Theresa
    The reply from Hannah

Thank you for your suggestions, as stated in Theresa's email, I was there for two site-visits and we are in the midst of discussions with the developer, contractor, MPSJ and some residents there.

Will let you know when we have clarified the issues there with the parties involved.

    Thank you.

    Regards,
    Hannah
Theresa responded in a few hours, Hannah 3 days later - all within expectations. The response is a bit non-committal but that is to be expected from government sometimes.

I went to MPAJ some time back and asked about ABATE, I was given 4 packets by the ladies in the Health Section and waqs avvised to contact the councilor who covers my section USJ 9. I called this person and his Assistant and requested for the ABATE to be dropped off at my post box. I wonder where the glitch is.

Previously I mentioned about the cuttings from my tree to MPSJ. When there's no response from MPSJ after 3 weeks I again emailed my aduan and at the same time I emailed to the councillor in my zone - Zon 3. The compost was collected after my one week away and 2 acknowledgements from MPSJ. Nothing from the councillor. Maybe he did follow up with MPSJ. Who knows? An acknowledgement is warranted.

Quick to respond but finding a solution is another matter

    Allurban,
I had brought this to the attention of Theresa weeks ago already. She had been quick to respond and was at the problem site within a few days. Unfortunately, the problem has not been properly settled as the traffic in front of e-Tiara and Casa Tiara is still chaotic. Who is going to monitor how the traffic flow is like in front of the apartments? I shudder to think what is going to happen when Subang Avenue opens! It is good PR to respond quickly to a complaint but to solve the problem is another. I do not see a solution in sight as Sime Darby has a bigger clout and connections to listen to the people staying in e-tiata and Casa Ville.

Its good that she responded and acted on your feedback quick enough. But honestly, she will try and how successful she is... well this is Bolehland. We might hope things will happen like in the show Erin Brockovich (Julia Roberts) but in Bolehland, this isn't the case, sad.

I agree with your concern - that is why I sent the email - so that some realistic solutions could be found that involves real public consultation.

We have to keep on top of this - give them the 2 weeks but come up with a plan in the meantime - and be ready to follow up soon.

Ive already got an idea of what should be done with the RapidKL buses to improve the sightlines in the area - and I have contacted the GM of RapidKL's bus operations to ask for her feedback and suggestions of what should be done with the bus stands in Subang Jaya. Er. no response from her yet but she isnt a politician so ....

    Sentinel,
In Bolehland, it depends on how strong your connections are to the top people. Apparently Sime Darby has a lot of clout. When Theresa and Hannah Yeoh were at the e-Tiara and Casa Ville area, I got the impression that they had to accede to Sime's plan for the problematic road. Theresa had told me that the stupid road island Sime is building in front of Subang Avenue has to go and the problem is solved. Next moment I got word from my e-Tiara mangement that the road is going to be one way! Right. Who's going to stop the cars of tenants from going the wrong way? At the moment the contentious island is still there and the traffic is still chaotic. The slip road in front of Mesiniaga is still not built. So much about PR.

There's PR and then there is PR. Once the councillors/ADUN have not met expectations, you go to the media and to the public.

Contact K. Harinderan of NST or the "Streets" section of NST (streets@nst.com.my). Contact Lim Chia Ying of the Star or the Metro Section (metro@thestar.com.my). Contact the MP and get him to push as well if the Councillor and ADUN are not meeting expectations.

It is easy to criticize but not easy to do. It doesnt matter who you are - councillor, ADUN, MP, president of a political party - Talk is cheap. Actions speak louder than words.
