    i hv another question :

the size of KL vs Subang in terms land size.
KL is definately large than Subang but the diff in population is only 110K?
looks like Subang density is very high compare to KL.

because it only has 2 roads between USJ and Subang and 1 connection between Subang Jaya and Subang and only 1 road between Subang Jaya & Puchong....

Im guess they meant the whole MPSJ area including Puchong, Serdang and Seri Kambangan?

    Cheers, m

I assume the population size will be based on the municipality boundaries

According to MPSJ's website, it would include :

    Subang (Zones 1 - 5)
    Kinrara (Zones 6 - 11)
    Sri Serdang (Zones 12 - 20)
    Sri Kembangan (Zones 21 - 24)

So you're saying puchong is also under subang jaya ?

Puchong is only under MPSJ and not subang jaya.

Sunway is not included because it lies in MPPJ ?

If I'm interpreting MPSJ correctly, when they say Subang Jaya, they mean the whole area under the jurisdiction of MPSJ which would include the suburbs in Puchong and Serdang. The old Subang Jaya (SS12 - SS19) and USJ would fall under the Subang suburb. Sunway would be a separate suburb within Petaling Jaya.

Technically, Subang Jaya is a township comprising SS 12, SS13, SS14, SS15, SS16, SS17, SS18 and SS19. The rest of the places mentioned are all townships. Subang Jaya cannot be assumed as an administrative district.

For Subang Jaya to have a population of 1,321,672 with an average of 5 person per house means that there are 264,334 houses here. Alternatively, I have been given a figure of 25,000 houses here in Subang Jaya and that will work out to be 52.8 people staying in one house! This can only be very true in the SPR Electrol roll. So definitely the facts are wrong. Do you know that I can go to wikipedia and change the figures at my whim and fancy. Recently, there was a great controversy over facts mentioned in wikipedia. Information in wikipedia are not gospel truth.

When it comes to compiling demographic data, I'm pretty sure the Dept of Statistics would use prevailing administrative boundaries.

Re: Wikipedia being editable, yes I am aware of that. But there's also a lot of community policing in Wikipedia that try to keep it within acceptable standards as well as breadcrumb trail of all changes made to every entry. Nonetheless, as far as the statistics cited above, it was entered into the entry without any supporting citations so it might well be doubtful. I'll flag it for review.

I would 1.3mil sounds right, if the area of MPSJ is considered.

USJ alone has 150K according to here

Sometime agoI read USJ/SUbang Jaya has 300K in population.

Puchong and Seri Kembangan/Serdang populations contribute significantly to the sum reported under MPSJ. Subang Jaya Town itself should still hover at the 500k mark, and PJ City should probably be slightly higher.
