Station Kopitiam at Subang Carrefour

Went to Subang Carrefour yesterday evening to pick up something, then we decided to have our dinner at this newly opened Station Kopitiam, since they have some sort of opening promotion for set meals.

Well... big mistake...

Out of about 10 staffs there, only one is a local, the rest are either Bangladeshi or Pakistani who only can speak a few English words and nothing else.

Trying to communicate to them is like talking to a wall.

One of them spill my drink on me and didn't even bother to apologize, same with the manager who rush over. Instead of attending me, they attend to the spilled water.

Food wise...
The so called fish ball soup was a half of a tiny fishball cut into quarter swimming in a msg soup.
Mango pudding served frozen, and when I ask the manager about the frozen state, and he just say, "Yes, it's a frozen mango pudding" and walk away.

The Ikan bakar we ordered are just so so... nothing to shout about. As long can fill our tummy and doesn't gives me multiple trips to toilet at the middle of the night is good enough.

When the bill came, they are charging me 5% service charge, and 5% gomen tax. I screw the manager on the spot, for spilling water on me without apologizing, and yet still charge me 5% service charge, and he's also unable to produce the 5% gomen tax cert when ask to.

And no matter how I screw him, he just gave me the blank look and a stiff smile... screwing a person like will just make u more frustrated

The total bill should come to RM20.65
I just put RM20 on the counter and left.

I've tried it once inside Summit which they also have it and I don't know why they keep opening new branches when their service and quality of food are poor. Last time I ordered a sizzling steak w/ fried rice in it and it came about 45 mins later. Can you imagine that? Staff service isn't friendly and they don't pay attention to customers. Had to call them few times before they can attend to you.

That time I was thinking, if I walk out of that place; I don't know think they would even bother to ask me come back and pay the bill. Yes, its' that bad! Staff they hire all are foreigners and no experience and not service oriented.

There aren't that many people patronizing this place and I wonder how they still able to open branches around? Hmmm .. could be money laundring.

The problem with having these Bangladeshi or whatever foreigner waiters is they don't know the difference between kopi, kopi-si, kopi-o, kopi-o kau, kopi-o kau-kau, kopi-o kosong, kopi-o kurang manis, kopi-si kau, kopi-cam..... they just look at you blur sotong like and for sure the wrong thing will come....

The other thing is when (being Penangite) we ask for gula melaka instead of normal white sugar for our soya milk and they just blardy stare at you but yet the menu says gula melaka is available on request....

You will notice that Starbucks, Dome and Cofee Bean have no foreign waiters....

Anything that you order more than 3 items from the menu, they will not be able to remember 1 of them. Either they come ask you again your order if they forget which I prefer rather than waiting and waiting then end up asking them about the food/drink that I've ordered then only they go prepare it.

They should trained their staff to repeat customer's order before bringing into the kitchen to prepare but then no. Even places like Old Taste or Old Town Kopitiam they let you mark your own order that you want, yet the order came wrongly or they don't turn up at all.

depends who they hire. I used to know in one of my ex-company warehouse, those bangla they hire were so good with calculations, surprised many of us. Later we found out that they are all university graduates in their country.

Maybe these graduates are still shell shocked to be employed as waiters that they display blur sotong behavior....like "Me! A Waiter! Is this a nightmare....wake me up! Ahhhhhhhhhh"

Yes, many of the foreigners are Uni graduates in their homeland and due to the economy in their country they have to run to other country and work. Like many M'sians that goes to other Europian country to work as cheap labour there. The fact that if they have decided to work in M'sia in whatever job they do, they gotta do it right.

In S'gpore if a cafe or coffee shop they have such people working like a blur sotong they would be complain and fired.

does it mean their uni entrance standard is lower or there are too many universities there? or could it be they simply upgrade their institutes to University status.
On other hand, Spore suffers from same problems too, u try order kopi o peng from prc waitress and u will get teh o peng.

I thought there more Phillipines than Bangla?

Last time before Pappa Rich it's a chinese coffee shop. There the Burmese that take your order knows what is teh peng, kopi kau or any drink you want. Their service there is so much better than those that is working in Station Kopitiam. So I guess is individual on these people whether they want to serve you properly or not.

How to give order if you're holding your breath? So we just cabut from the outlet lor... Appetite also hilang after the B.O. encounter

and sometime during peak seasons, we had to hired lots of part timers, and those turn up are mostly foreign workers. The only locals are the college kids.

We usually ask the Bangladeshi and Pakistani to take a shower first, and use deodorant before we send them out to serve the guest.

Not racism here, but dunno why those with bad B.O. mostly came from those 2 country, something to do with their diet? or hygienic practice?

If you can get the thais to be in the service line, super good. They respect client, clean and no BO. If some waiter pass me by with their BO I too would walk out of the place immediately.
