Where in Klang Valley can i find a Hug Mug?

    Hello Folks,
From the attached picture, has anyone came across shops or shopping complexes that sell a hug mug? If you have kindly please advise me where could i obtain one.

I tried google and some web search it seems besides online purchase there isn't much info for me to walk into a shop and purchase one.

Many thanks in advance for your replies and views......

    Regards,

Tried Googling for it, not much luck (plus I'm not bothered to dive further than the first page of results) though. Well, here's a niche that demands to be filled. Go hit the Yellow Pages and look for folks who can make ceramics for ya.

    Thanks

    Hello MediumSliced,
Thanks for the effort to try to googling it. Appreciate it much. Hopefully in a few days time when more people start to read this, at least one or two readers might have seen this at some shops before.

    Terima Kasih

those hug mugs were made famous by Max Brenner's chain of cafe. The closest cafe is in singapore. I've never seen those mugs anywhere in the Klang Valley.

good luck in locating those mugs. hopefully someone on this forum has seen them for sale and can share the location. i wouldn't mind purchasing them myself. makes real awesome gifts.

I agree that it looks great, good as a gift and purposeful. As is mostly used for hot chocolate and coffee, on rainy days or early mornings, is good to be use as a hand warmer.

Hopefully there will be some readers who would have more knowledge on the whereabout of the hug mug than me.

    Thank you all.

    Only in Australia

Having looked at the item it is probably an odd shaped "bowl" coupled with an under-sized underliner at that. (Notice in the picture how a normal teaspoon sticks out so much from the saucer)

I have been working in the Ceramic industry for the past 25 years and never have I had a request for such an item specifically for coffee or chocolate.

The item was probably an odd shaped bowl which Max Brenner-Australia chose for his chocolate drinks and he labeled the bowl "hugmug".

So I suppose the item will stay unique to Australia.

There is a French Bowl, which is used to drink coffee something like this:

I understand that they dip toast into bowl of coffee.

Have you thought how you are going to hold the "bowl" if you like drinking piping hot coffee or chocolate?

Seen it not in the Klang Valley but in Chatuchak, Bangkok two weeks ago. For directions, it's the same store that sells the franchise Disneyland ceramic bowls and mugs.
Some people are just average, others are just mean.

Hmmm.....i believe the idea of this type of mug is for the fingers to wrap around the mug to hold it differently from conventional drinking mug/cup. Also in a way would provide some heat to the fingers during cold days. But you are right if the drinks are pipping hot, it might not be too wise to hug this mug. Maybe is just to provide alternative and variances to the conventional cup/mug.

The reason i am looking for this mug cos i believe is good looking, stylish and a good gift to my lady friend. Also, i might be able to pass her the hug mug in future and give her a smile and say "Milo Please!!"

And also at the same time, give her a subtle hint to give you a warm (hot?) hug each time she sees you.

Problem here is how much do you want to impress your lady friend? or for that matter how many lady friends???hahaha... just joking.

If you are willing to splash a few hundred bucks, you could purchase a good quality mug and have whatever you want to say, "properly fired" on the mug, would be the one and only piece in the whole wide world.

The more you make, the cheaper it is.. that's where the joke comes in.

    Good Business Opportunity!!

Come to think of it, is good business opportunity to sell hug mug heh.....Not widely available around Klang Valley, good as gift as it gives mug a new genre, should be pretty affordable as at the end of the day is still a mug and response within usj.com.my seems positive - no one says it's ugly just not many know where to get one within Klang Valley

Thank you for everyone's responses. I believe i can summarize this is not easily available around Klang Valley.

I doubt very much that it would sell in quantity.

If anyone or group is interested put out some capital, and I can look into producing the item for them.

As I mentioned, I really doubt that it will sell.
