huh ? how to help ? Healthy food is not just about MSG... we need to look at the entire contents of food itself. Some food are healthy for some people but bad for some other people. Some people may find MSG bad, some may find it good.

Anyway, I am not against any kind of posting, advertisment or no advertisement some people may disagree with what you write, some may agree with you. As long as you dont get the banana warning, I guess its okay

part of the above excerpt from MAYOclinic:

Still, you can take steps to control sodium when you're dining out and following the DASH diet. Just remember to:

Ask that food be prepared without added salt, MSG or salt-containing ingredients.
Be alert for ingredients, cooking styles and labels that indicate a dish may be high in sodium, such as pickled, cured, smoked, soy sauce and broth.
Remove the saltshaker from your table, or at the least, put it out of easy reach.
Limit condiments, such as mustard, ketchup, pickles and sauces with salt-filled ingredients.
Opt for fruits and vegetables instead of salty appetizers or snack foods.

The problem is that cooks are so used to piling tons of salt/ajiNOmoto into the food, they usually forget your special request for less of this and that. Why, just the other day, I ordered 'ta-pau' at the chicken rice stall at Mei Sek, told the waiter that I only wanted one small tablespoon of 'pak-yau' but of course, he gave me one whole ladle of the liquid!

I wonder which is more dangerous, food cooked with MORE cooking oil than neccessary or MSG. I think its also good to insist on less oily food, hope they'll comply.

cooking oil is more dangerous when it has been reused over 3 times.Guess how often caterers use to change the oil to cook your food , from KFC to pasar malam ,Mac frieds to even vegetarians outlets!
Overuse oil enhances cancer as the molecular structures change. As consumers. we can demand for healthy food because we are paying for it.
We can gradually knock some concious senses to food operatorsm business is not about making a few cents more at the expense of our health.
No MSG, no artifical additives, no reused oil, less fats, less salt, would certainly makes this world a better place.
For those who thinks it is healthy to consume the above, the consumers have the right to be informed that MSG is as good as reused oil on the label! The tainted milk is one clear example we can learn from it.Operators use it to makes the milk appear more milk like with protein apperance

There is also one restaurant which has operated here along Gottlieb Road (Penang) for the past 30 years I think, its know as Ee Tiow Long or 1 Dragon and it has a big sign in the main dining hall - We No Use MSG! - and its food is nice and tasty but it has one private dining room and probably about 7-8 tables only. Very nice cosy restaurant.... You heard of it?

Will try. Haven't been there since CNY with family. Just imagine an old Hainanese coffeeshop type with round marble tables and wooden chairs but airconditioned and very private... nice pictures of old Penang on the walls... only 8 tables. Well known for their "kiam chai ak tng" - i.e. salted veggie duck soup, no MSG!

Heh!..I cringe me thinking these tables still found in some ceiling fan-con typical coffee shops within Klang valley. The marble top is likely full of bacteria, sweat, stains, smells and all from years of them wiping with dirty cloth after each customer vacates the table.

Well BS, not the marble tables in this restaurant I was referring to. Those that you mention should be shut by the authorities.

FYI I have a 6 ft marble table as my dining table. It is pure white with some grey cloud design. Very thick piece too. I took it to a carpenter who specialised in making the leg with the old design except I chose a very special hardwood - Burmese Redwood - and I will show you the table in a pic soon.

There is a way on keeping these marble table spick and speck and its so simple lah...
