    Assessment and Quit Rent reminder

Time of the year again to pay our dues to MPSJ and Pejabat Tanah.

I did mine at MPSJ on Saturday (31/Jan). There weren't much of a crowd yet but there will be long queues once the holiday crowd comes back.

Please note that MPSJ accepts payment to ALL assessments (Cukai Pinti or Cukai Taksiran) and quit rents (Cukai Tanah). While they take credit/debit cards for MPSJ assessment payments, those from other municipalities can only be paid by cash. All quit rent can only be paid by cash.

There is also an automated payment kiosk in the MPSJ lobby for those who cannot come during the normal times - this machine only deals with MPSJ assessments.

In February, the counters are open on Sat and Sun in the mornings. Check their times here

If you opt to pay the full year's assessment at MPSJ, just inform the person at the counter when you pay and they will adjust your bill accordingly. Do be aware that all municipalities encourage this payment and they usually give you a free gift if you opt to pay it all instead of in 2 installments. MPSJ's gift this year is a 4-side clock. Just a tiny bedside table clock which displays different functions depending on which of the 4 positions that it is standing on. Batteries included.

By the way, I have no associations with MPSJ - just thought you folks needed the reminder.

The deadline to pay the First Half of the MPSJ Assessment Bill or Cukai Pintu is 28th February 2009 and the Quit Rent or Cukai Tanah at the Land Office (next to Wisma Consplant) is 31st May 2009. If it is too much of a hassle to pay by the deadline or if you happened be on on Credit card hold or you need the cash for something else, just look at the amount of Denda Lewat that you have to pay. If the sum is a negligible amount, just pay next year by the two dates mentioned and save yourself the hasle to beat the two deadlines. It has no implication on you and rest assure CTOS would not be informed of your failure to pay on time.

You can pay quit rent via HSBC Online by selecting "Kerajaan N.S'gor - Hasil Cukai Tanah" in "Pay Bills" section.

BTW, I hv yet to receive 2009 quit rent from MDP. Any idea the arrear was sent to USJ residents?

if hsbc cannot... then find somebody (relative/friend) with maybank2u.com access... m2u account holders can pay for 3rd party bills via TAC. My sis-in-law makes me pay all her bills for her... then she refunds me the amount.!

I paid using the kiosk machine. Fast and quite good. Many are packing the place to pay at the counter itself. I had to go through counter service because I have to "pindah milik" because I just moved. After that was done went to the kiosk paid with my credit card.

Waiting for pindah milik 2 1/2 hours to reach counter. Once reach counter 5 minutes then done (there were a 120 people ahead of my number)

Payment at the kiosk - less than 5 minutes.

I ask why people don't want to pay at the kiosk to the counter lady? she said they want a receipt..kiosk produces a receipt as well. so not too sure.
