    Old Is Gold

    An old Chinese woman.
In the Chinese community as a woman grows older they are respectly addressed accordingly.
Some commonly used terms that I know of, from young, old, older and oldest are:
Xiao jie, siu cheh, ah nia, leng lui, aunty, tau keh soh, lau zhar bor (a bit crude), ah mah, lau ah mah, ah por por, lau t'ai por, lao nai nai.

Do add on to the list if you know of any.

A light comedy I like that honours old women is 'Liang Po Po-The Movie featuring Jack Neo.

    Cheers!

mammoth, did you take the pics yourself?
It's better to be poor than to be rich. The rich always have to fear becoming poor, but the poor never have to fear becoming rich.

Of course.. I was waiting for someone by the Kuan Yin temple during my last trip to Penang and saw lots of old folks begging for foods and money. Kind of pity them actually...

Wow, the first photo is impressive! Can see those years of living on this earth etched on the lady's skin prominently!

Ouch! Bet the old lady would regret posing for you when she sees this! I would never let you shoot a close-up if I know it would show all those lines and spots!

I got this old man in the Yangon local market. He was not very pleased when I took his pictures so I had to move along quickly. Otherwise will love to snap more pictures of him.
