    rear bicycle rack. pls recommend

    Hi all,

i plan to start cycling, and thus looking for a bicycle rear rack. i'm driving a Myvi.

anyone has any advice where i can get good rear bicycle rack? nothing too fancy. just casual cycling, ie driving to a nice spot, and cycling for 1-2 hours.

cant cycle in kl/pj. too many cars. not condusive to cycle at all.

    thanks.

i tried to put the bike into my MyVi, with the rear seat down, it was so tough. you take out the tyre? can share your technique?

i dont intend to do off road biking. wanna just cycle on tar road. some of the off road biking too 'adventurous' for me am told that putrajaya is very scenic.

my bicycle is the older version, where you dont have a lever to take off the wheels.

thus, putting the bicycle in the car with the wheels is really a pain.

and hence, the need to get a rear bicycle rack. how much will it be ? ranging from rm150 to rm400?

I bought a Le Run bike that enables me to take both wheels off. Pretty simple to un attached and reattach back.
    RM400 at Taipan.

Check out my blog for my biking experiences.

If you are going to carry your bicycle OUTSIDE your car on a rack, better get a good one. If the bike falls off, it will endanger you and other road users. I have one for my MPV (Thule) that will carry 3. It is specific for each car model. I am sure they have one for the Myvi. Cost about RM 500.

wow. didnt know that cycling is such an expensive hobby. its annoying that i cant just cycle every where in kl/pj. too many cars and drivers here dont pay attention to pedestrians and cyclists.

what about helmets? i presume it pays to invest in a good one.

yup helmet is a MUST !!!!! this is for your own safety.... my friend helmet basically save his life when he fall when going down hill. The helmet crack. Imagine if he is without his helmet.

for myvi. bike rack is not recommended and the back panel is all glass. and the hook is made of iron. and the hook have to hold it. ...

so everyone driving a hatchback (eg kelisa, kancil, atos) cant use a rear rack?

i'm sure there are certain brands/models that can be hooked onto hatchback cars?

or else, i dont know how to transport my bicycle. it's still in good condition. it will be a waste to get another bicycle, in favour of 'wheel lever'.
