Inquiry about Kids Transport

Hi I'm new here. You can address me as Tham.
Actually would like to know the rates for kiddy transport to nursery and back.
I am residing in TP area and would like to have transport service for my son to and back nursery (SS19). Don't really want school bus type as too cramp and son still small (age 3). Safety wise prefer a parent who also sends their kids around this vacinity. I have looked around and got offers like RM180/RM160/RM140/RM120 (to and fro)..Well can someone tell me what is the rates like?
If it's going to be RM180...I think might as well myself buying a 2nd car and offer this service at maybe RM150 to be reasonable huh?? At the same time when i send my son, i could also offer to send 2 / 3 more kiddies comfortably seated at the back...anyway I am a parent as well a housewife, guess I can find time though.! Please advise!

That is one of my main concerns when I have to send my son to pre-school. He's 2 now so I have 1 more year to decide. Anyway, I have trained him to sit in a car seat. And would love for him to sit till he's much older. But I don't think it's practical for a transport to use car seats, then you will only be able to ferry 3 kids max. If not, at least the transport must emphasise on wearing seat belts at least. Too many kids cramp in a car with no seat belt, is a concern to me.

The current going rate is around RM80-RM90 per month for daily to-&-fro transport within USJ/SJ. Since you are from TP (is that Technology Park?), that explains the higher cost. Most of the transporters have some friendly links with each other and you would not be able to get anyone cheaper than another.

One solution is actually to find another parent in the same nursery who is willing to help you out but I suppose it would be rare to find one coming from TP.

Alternatively you be the transporter, as you suggested, but be aware that you will be responsible for their safety. It is likely that passengers would be people staying nearer the nursery, and thus you will be unable to collect more than RM90 per child.

Well I stay in TP (between USJ 4 and 12) and I don't mind actually paying for a responsible transporter the norm. What I am confused here is that I got recommendation from a few friends and the charges vary a bit lot from RM120 - RM140 - RM160 - RM180 (for a to and fro trip from TP to SS19 and back).

If I were to transport some kids as well, I don't mind too as I am a parent altogether and sending my own kid in the same car actually puts alot of confident in other parents knowing I will definately not be reckless for sure..haha! As this is also my main concern if i have to rely on transporters. If I were to get a 2nd car, I do not mind sending smaller kids with 3 carseat at the back for a fee of maybe RM160 since the ratio is small. Then the timimg for the poor kids to get ready for me (the transporter) will not be too early as I see some friends kids have to wait for their transporter as early as 6:45 due to having too many kids from too many destinations in the same vehicle. And at the same time, they get home very much later too.

Well, I am thinking of switching my son to kinderland as nearer to my house.. Maybe can think of transporting kids within nearby vacinity like uSJ3A and B, USJ12, USJ11 huh?? Well, I think I can make do with sending 3 young kids at the back by carseat or max 4 (older ones) with seat-belts..Just have to add additional one more set to it, guess won't be much of a problem too.

What irritates me was when I got in touch with one transporter who wanted to charge me RM180 and when I found out she is using her own car transporting 7 kids (on 1 session) and another 8 (2 year olds) on another session!! And she doesn't even drives an MPV due to sending that many kids. Wow...to me it just immediately striked my mind that how responsible and safe can this lady be?? How can I trust my little boy with her?? That's what makes me think of getting a 2nd car and sending my kid myself and at the same time make up for some petrol money sending 2 or 3 others ....

I moved to SS12 in August 08 and has been sending my 4 yo to LadyBird in SS17.
As i was new and a working mother, i was recommended one transporter that charges RM150 for to and fro. But i wanted to spend time with my son and so wanted only the picking up after school. the price quoted was RM130. Not very happy with that and i looked around for another and was pleased to find another transporter charging RM80 one way.

perhaps RM80-RM90 was before fuel price hike? It was during the high of RM2.70 per litre but now....since fuel price down , no one talk about reducing.

That has been my experience in this neighbourhood.

After some inquiries around, I found that the price for one way trip for nearby transport is about RM80-90 and for further ones approx from USJ 11/12 to SS19 is about RM100-120 due to the massive jam. Those that send with sedan and with small ratio of (max) 4 kids with appropriate safety precaution eg seatbelts/carseats will charge a little higher about RM120 because of added advantage provided : 1) the kid do not have to get ready too early, 2) seats will be loose and comfy, 3) the child spends less time in the car travelling. As for to and fro its just an added RM40 - 60.

So, to this lady who wanted to charge me RM180 to and fro with such cramp space in her car (7 kids between 2 1/2 - 4) and no proper safety measures, I told her off!!

I hope parents should think of all the safety and comfort plus and minus before engaging a transporter for their kids. Sometimes a little RM20 - 30 more is worth paying for the sake of safety.

Well after consideration and feedbacks I got, what do you think if I offer to send a max of 4 kids at one time (all with appropriate seat belts) around USJ area for a fee of RM130 (to and fro) or RM100 (one way) due to the small ratio and proper safety measures. I think comparing those who accomodate more than 6 kids at one go all being cramped up with no proper safety measure who charges RM10-RM20 less, my fees are not too way out huh??
Moreover the mommies could also take it easier on the timing issue where the kids could wake up a little later and comes back a little sooner for the AM sessions??
My sis-inlaw who stays in USJ11 had her kids sent to LHung (2-way) for a fee of RM140 (when petrol was still RM1.90) and RM150 ever since petrol went up.
Opinion please?

yes i noticed this too. i think they should reduce their price. If they got such good brains to increase their price they should reduce the price now. Where are all their manners? This is why i never heard of an oil increase of 70% in any other country except here. Now is hard to control the hawkers, the transporters and all who says...- OIL price increase we must Increase our price..now ..when all things is back to normal their mouth is super duper shut... acting like nothing ever happen!!!!
