Mitsubishi Glandis or Toyota Wish/ Estima?

    Hi....

A friend intent to get a 7 seater. Can anyone recommend esp for those who have such 7 seater???

    Actually he has 3 choices:
    1) Mitsubishi Glandis- look great on features and it's a full 7 seater. (heard oil consumption higher, after 3 yrs car start to get a lot of sound???)

    2) Toyota Wish-The brand new made in Thailand type , external features look good, (friend doesn't like the interial as using a cheap type of plastic).

    3) Toyota Estima- recond type from Japan (as brand new cant afford). Any problem with recond type of 3-5 yrs Estima?

THanks for your valuable comment in advance.

Vote for Toyota Estima... range from RM100k-RM260k. My cousin using the 2006 model. My uncle using the 2001 model. Both very reliable. No headache in servicing. It is the most popular 7-8 seater for family use. U can see it almost everywhere on the road.

Toyota Wish is smaller compared to Estima & more agile.

If u need to ferry more than 5 people all the while (maybe more than 70%-80% always fully loaded), then Estima better.

I only have 1 friend having Grandis. The reason he bought it is that it is 'special'...and not many people own it. Other than that, he still think Toyota is more reliable.

    Hi Jimmy,

Can you ask your friend with Glandis, any problem with this car? How long he has been driving this car? Gear Box got problem?

One of the reason my friend interested in Glandis cos it is special and not many ppl own it.. Too many Estima n Wish on the road and Estima give the impression of high profile and very rich ppl drive Estima... haha...

Toyota Wish has small compartment for luggage. It is not enough for a family travels long distance. Further to it, there is no air cond outlet at the back, so it can be quite stuffy particularly on the hot day.

Estima is comparatively better but 2.4 litre is rather under power.

    For a 2006 Estima - Approx 200k,

    For a 2004 Estima - Approx 150k

    For a 2003 Estima - Approx 120k

Brand new Grandis has 3 years free part and labour, 5 years warranty = RM`158k. Estima do not come with warranty, warranty is given by dealership.....usually 1 year... 2nd hand value for Grandis not so good

Toyota wish is a smaller mpv.....brand new also RM150k++....but 2nd hand value is good..... ..

Aisaay ... how about the Toyota Innova? Cheaper than all the rest and equally spacious - I had packed in 5 adults and 6 kids for a short nip to the makan shop once - sure beats driving 2 cars

Frankly, if I have the moolah, I'd go for the Estima

    Hi Rebling,
He had been using for more than 2 years already in JB. He bought at RM200k++. It is the first few bathes. In JB & Spore, it is quite popular but not in KL.

So far (touch wood), no problem on gearbox or anything, just normal maintenance only. He said handling is better than Estima & smaller compared to Estima. Still...it can fit in 7-8 people.

He know about the recent RM150k++ offer and said very worthwhile. The spec is different with what he bought.

hi... thanks all for the valuable feedback..

So, my friend's budget of RM160K can either get Glandis or Estima 2004???

So, if compare these 2, Estima is on popular choice.

Pros of Glandis is it is smaller, not too high, can fit 7 full adults, 3 yrs free servicing and 5 yrs warranthy and the price is abt RM164K on the road (company registration).

Estima- good but cant afford brand new as it is abt RM300K??? So can only get 2003-2004 Estima.. wonder 4-5 yrs car give problem or not??? I sad at the back roll of Estima traveling to Mentakab and it was very very bumpy.. wonder was it due to the driver's skill or really Estima's absorbers not so good????

It will be driven by friend's wife and a lady driving Estima looks big and bulky... Glandis is more sleek compare with Estima.

hehee... you've just admitted committing a road/traffic offence in a public forum... hence, a traffic-banana for you... kihkihkih!

    how do you plead ???

Back to the topic... It all depends on your budget...
Got the $$$... can get anything you want/like in the market even if it is crappy or a gas guzzler... if on a limited budget, the the sub 100K would be the likes the Innova, Avanza, Lavina or even a Suzuki EPV

Actually - come to think of it - nowadays, got lots of choices in the market, only thing is how much you willing to spend for it...
