Watch out for Big Bang Experiment ..

    http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,24317385-2,00.html

SCIENTISTS about to conduct one of the world's biggest physics experiments tomorrow (Wednesday) have received death threats amidst fears they could destroy the world.

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC), a giant particle accelerator built by European science organisation CERN, will start its atom-smashing activities tomorrow in an experiment it is hoped will uncover some of the secrets of the Big Bang.

Despite the expected scientific benefits, some fear the experiment could create black holes that will eventually swallow the Earth. German chemist Professor Otto Rossler even led a last-ditch legal attempt to stop the experiment......

So what if they destroyed the world when the black holes consumes everything?

Anyway there won't be earth anymore... no more usj.com.my, no more UmNazi, no more you and me, NOTHING!!

    So what to worry about?

better still, you won't be able to see your shares go down

let's have a TT session in d black holes then

Has anyone had read Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons" ?
In that story, it was about another CERN experiment where they had isolated anti-matter in magnetic glass containers. Once the anti-matter collided with matter, that would be the end of the world. A very similar scenario that is probably happening at CERN tomorrow .. that is if they manage to elucidate anti-matter in their experiments.

By the way Dan Brown (of the Da Vinci code fame) wrote fiction with some link to probable facts.

If the world is destroyed tomorrow, you'd probably not feel it because we all go in one single bang. Goodbye, it had been nice knowing you all ....

The thing that surprise me is how come this project is even being approved. The consequences can be irreversible and the prophecy MAN creates the world and MAN destroys the world is true.

Sorry to disappoint you... me 110% real man
alcohol and women doesn't mix well with marriage

anyway, I remember I read about the CERN project somewhere, theoretically if they really indeed created a tiny black hole, theoretically they will be able to contain it somehow by pulling the plug since it's so tiny.
And theoretically the worst case scenario will be they won't be able to contain the black hole, and theoretically the tiny black hole will grow bigger at a very slow rate at first, but will grow bigger in exponent ratio
So theoretically if they created a black hole, we won't be going out in a single bang, but slowly got consumed by the black hole

    theoretically lar!!

... aaahhh, but in the Dan Brown novel, this antimatter (or God Particle?) would in fact become an incredible source of pure energy if it can be contained and managed. In view of the energy crisis, they may discover the world's future fuel source, like keeping the Sun in a container to generate electricity.

But of course all are in theory and appears in his novel as fiction. We will know tomorrow. By the way, that CERN accelerator is actually deep underground to protect it from being contaminated by high speed particles emitted by the Sun. If they actually created an explosion, it would be contained underground. However, if they do isolate anti-matter and fumbles, they could indeed destroy the world.

Somehow I have this nagging memory of the Millenium Bug - there was world-wide panic but it passed by with only a small fizzle...

    Rest assured they are!

Similar events happen a zillion times every second. The only difference is that in CERN they isolate it so that it can be observed.

Read what I said above. It would be complete paranoia not to approve it.

Isa is right - antimatter and a host of other unimaginable nuclear particles occur naturally. They have only fleeting lifespans and thus are never observed. The CERN experiment is to record evidences of their existence using a lot of mathematics and physics theory. No one would actually "see" the particles, much less contain and "hold" them. So, you see the difference between fiction and scientific fact?

Let's keep our fingers crossed. Anything can happen after March 8th so let's observe.
