Thanks to all who have taken valauble time to post advise especially Coojee.

I would agreed that driving in NZ could be more pleasant in terms of size of country and scenery. And the temperature at that time is certainly something to consider.

So it looks like there are more votes for NZ.

BTW,what's the cheapest airfare there?

err..jwoo, don't forget in general prices r more expensive in NZ than in Aus, only getting there will double ur air fare, still no no frill flight going there

If you don't mind the hassle, take Air Asia to Melbourne, then fly pacific blue or air new zealand to Auckland or Chrischurch, save you about RM500 per person.

Did my South Island driving tour last christmas, road condition is pretty good, not much of traffic and everybody observed the speed limit !

Journey from Christchurch to Queenstown is a whopping 7 hours journey, so try to stay a night in Mt Cook, there is some excellent trek there if you are into hiking.
