RO water system or home water dispenser?

i know the subject of water has been brought up again and again. unfortunately, i couldnt find the answer to my questions in this forum.

i'm currently using elken bio pure, and it costs me rm1+ a day. it gets very troublesome to keep on changing the pre-water filter. and changing the inside filters cost a bomb.

is anyone using the home water dispenser, the one similar to office use? any comments? how much is it? is the purity and safety of the water guaranteed? price wise - cheaper?

not sure if it works out cheaper. per bottle is 12 rgt and we ( family of 5, maid inclusive) go thru 6-7 bottles a month. delivery is foc. i usually signed up a package, where they throw in 2-3 bottles foc, depending on package type.
the water dispenser is a one off purchase. i bought a hot and cold water dispenser.

We use water dispenser in the office, the average drum (big bottle) is about RM8 but I doubt it is clean. It would be a bit more acidic to prevent the growth of bacteria. So how fresh can it be? It can also be expensive and need a place to store the bulk drum. They wont deliver 1 or 2.

To reduce the cost of your elken filter maybe you should have at least another ceramic filter (About RM200) in between the meter and your elken thing. You can always open the ceramic filter and scrub off the dirt every week. The filter is about RM50 for a year.

I see people go to those machine every weekend and buy Water with up to 5 containers!

Wanna ask lah. I'm going to acquire a used fibreglass filter system and the sand needs to be changed. I'm not sure what the size is but its at least 5ft tall and 10" diameter. Anyone changed the internal sand before and how much it costs? I don't know who supplied it because the label is no more there.

i'm currently using a normal outdoor filter (those transparent casing). those cloth filters. the water quality is so bad that i have to change the filter every week.

the carbon filter lasts longer or should i say is washable? can i fit a carbon filter into the outdoor filter?

yes, the water supplied for dispenser maybe clean, but the container may not be...

I gave up on the cloth "strings" filter, using those membrane type, 5 microns. 5 of em about RM12 at giant.

Carbon or charcoal neutralised the chlorine, guess thats the different.

Tried the ceramic?

At the moment I use a carbon filter outside. It lasts for 2 months or so, which I dismantle it and backwash it under my kitchen sink..perhaps do this once or twice, my water ain't bad and I'd buy mine from Mydin..maybe cheapest around here?.. RM4 something each?
Cheh!..the amount of "black muck" during the wash..imagine if I didn't use a water filter, my toilet cisterns would have also been so rusty inside.

I use it for drinking water near the sink. Wash every week until the whole thing get thinner and thinner and broke.... maybe 6 month to 1 year. Dont wash... water trickles... hehehe!

My clear one with membrane filter is at the meter.

I had a carbon one for shower (some cute chick sold me ), last week when there was water cut and when I came back... the filter got block and I have to throw it away... cannot open or clean it.

Ya lah..go see for yourself at Mydin. If you're paying RM30 each..you've been cheated. Even that DIY hardware shop at Taipan (Kayu NK row of shops) are selling theirs below RM10 each.
