Charity Bazaar, Sat 3rd and Sun 4th May at The Summit USJ

Warmest greetings to you from us at Dreams Alive!

I am writing to you with the need to ask if you can help us publicise our Charity Bazaar in the USJ-Subang Jaya e-Community website.

Date: Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th May, 2008
    Time: 11.00am to 9.00pm
Place: The Summit USJ Shopping Complex

Dreams Alive is a project by 6 NGOs coming together with one purpose and goal in mind - to give underprivileged children a chance to dream and to make their dreams come true. The 6 active NGOs are

    1. Hope Worldwide Organisation,
    2. Yayasan Harapan Kanak-kanak Malaysia,
    3. Borneo Child Aid,
    4. Rumah Anak Yatim Vivekananda,
    5. National Early Childhood Education Malaysia,
    6. Malaysian Child Resource Institute.

Funds raised in any and every Dreams Alive project will be distributed evenly amongst these 6 NGOs. In fact, the working committee for all Dreams Alive project comprises of all the fundraising staff from all these NGOs. In other words, we are ONE in Dreams Alive.

    Funds distributed would be utilised gratefully for all up and current projects run by the NGOs above. For instance;

    1) MCRI needs a substantial heap of funds to help set up Youth Criminal Justice Board and also a small library for children in and around Cheras.

    2) NAECCEM needs a smalll amount of funds to help anyone who would like to become early childhood teachers, they give out scholarships.

    3) HOPE runs a free clinic and a reading centre for the very poor children in and around Sentul area.

    4) Borneo Child Aid runs more than 10 primary schools for the deserted children in Lahad Datu, Sabah.

    5) Yayasan Harapan Kanak-kanak Malaysia runs The HIV home for children.

    6) Rumah Anak Yatim Vivekananda give a roof for abused, deserted children in Seremban and gives them education as well.

This Bazaar is specially organised by all the NGOs involved to raise funds. These NGOs are out to cut down poverty percentage in Malaysia. They have the heart but they are lack of funds. Government support for them takes about 10% - 15% of their yearly needed funds. What about the rest of the needed funds? They have to raise them on their own. But being small NGOs themselves, they do not have the luxury of hiring events companies or even full time fundraiser. They have to do the operations and the fundraising themselves. That is why, they have joined hands to enable them for greater strength to make things happen.

This is our first Bazaar and we would like to have it every year. We sincerely hope you can help us announce this Bazaar in the website. This Bazaar was brought to USJ area because we saw the potential of this place. Over the years, the USJ and Subang Jaya residence have shown magnanimous kindness and generosity to help so many people in need. So, being our first time here in USJ-Subang Jaya is truly very important indeed, to create the awareness of the public and hope for the generosity of people from all walks of life. Please do not hesitate to give us a tinker, should you need any further assistance.

Once again, thank you for taking time to read our appeal. Truly looking forward to hear good news from you.

    Yours gratefully,

    Lily Chan

By now you would have seen some 100 of the lamp post banners publicising this event. They are hung up along Jalan Kewajipan and Jalan Murni. I only saw less than 5 along Jalan Tujuan. Please help to send out by email this events to your friends and relatives.

I was there yesterday and happened to see our ADUN Hannah Yeoh releasing a couple of birds into the sky. I couldn't hear what the DJ was saying because this was done at the outside porch. I was wondering the significant of this gesture but I sure know that those 6 birds must be thanking their lucky stars which were not up there ih the afternoon sky but they sure flew away like there was no tomorrow. There was not much crowd there at around 3.30pm. In fact there were more helpers wearing the HOPE T-shirts than there were people buying things. Basically there are a dozen or so stalls there selling drinks and foodstuff and also accessories and clothings. By the way there is a Tupperware stall there too minus the Tupperware Party ladies you would normally see when they hold shop at their houses.
