That big FDI companies get various 'incentives' for locating here is nothing new.
This is the fallacy of the trap we're now into; a complicated patchwork of 'free trade zones', 'tax free zones', 'corridors'; all offering various 'special status'; each demanding specific bureaucracy.
We do not need all these special conditions. And the cost of maintaining the bureacracy is frightening. Instead give one single condition which applies to the whole country. Then let everybody choose their location based on commercial realities.
Furthermore, the country would gain immensely if most of KDRM (customs) was simply scrapped. KDRM is entirely counterproductive to a nation which exports play such a crucial role to the nation's well being. We simply don't need it. Getting rid of KDRM will attract a vast number of small and medium size high growth enterprises; which combined will contribute more to the economy than the giants in Bayan Lepas, Butterworth, Shah Alam, Kulim, Prai etc.
See you...

My question is this - if the Malaysian Govt can stoop so low I am very angry - how come the MNC involved could do the same - don't they have business conduct regulations when conducting business - if I am working in that MNC, I would resign the next day as it shows that organization is willing to sell out its integrity for business - in this case it's not even normal business, it was about relocation.
gentlemen, it all boils down to terminology.
One man's incentive is another's bribery.
The government around the world practise many trade incentives, tax breaks, pioneer status, visa-free, subsidies on import/exports, preferential utilities bills and even relaying of pipes etc...
Nothing to yell out in my thin paper back book....
Also ah? how come nobody yell when our bolehland gomen paid hundreds of million$US$$$ to the F1 and motoGP owners to host the event here???
Do u know that we actually have lost the rights to host 1 of the events here? But we top up our 'incentives'? bribe? so that our canggih sepang track wont just host jaguh kampung events???

the issue is that the govt did not improve the skills of the people to compete at a higher level, we are still competing with China, Vietnam or Indonesia over labour intensive and low cost work, but we are overcost.........
so we ended up chasing our own tails and not getting anywhere.
it is sad that the govt are not seeing it, it takes another 1 - 2 generations to recover and make a change, i just hope it is not too late.
look at the MNCs in malaysia, what do they do? call centers? docs centers? this is what our graduates are doing!! there is no solid work which can expand the economy of the country. we are just some low cost, multi lingual country for call centers. who pays high salary for call centers??
Its NOT that they don't see it. Its used as a point to champion their cause in "assuring" guillible people and supporters for jobs. Just that it won't last forever. Factories decide to relocate?..what jobs then?.Originally Posted by gtl
Its all part of their scheme to hoodwink the people everytime. I'm sad that the rakyat don't really think laterally.
