"Smoke is blowing from forest fires in Sumatra, as shown in this image [link below] taken by NASA's Terra satellite on June 14, 2012 at 03:45 UTC (June 13, 2012, 11:45pm ETC, U.S.).......Rokan Hilir has the most "hotspots" (fires) in Riau. The fires are burning peat and forestland and have created smoke and haze....33 fires are burning in ten 10 districts in the regency."

We're really in troubled times! Haze wasn't some potentially and deadly health hazard that comes by in the 60's 70's 80's until the 90's when it becomes a very real problem!
Here we are all these decades trying best to reduce or minimize air pollution (vehicle smog, industrial smog, open burning, etc) in our own backyard and now we have a smog coming from next door thats overwhelming and we pray for rain! Terrible prospect and seems little is being effected other than some crisis management.

Local source of haze, too. Don't just blame Indonesia.

I reckon the worst of haze is over for now, and it RAINED quite a lot at noon yesterday. I think it'll rain again this late afternoon. Good!.. perhaps replendish problematic water supply.
Is the rainy period back? I hope so but not too much to cause floods instead.

It is always convenient to blame others.
