Now for this one, I agree with you 101%. It's really terrible having to go thru the bottleneck caused by some inconsiderate people who have the audacity to park along the road. Sometimes, the driver will be there (presumably waiting for someone), sometimes no driver (hm nevermind la I park here, after all I go in Carre4 short while only). Hello people... don't you all know that Carre4 has FREE parking. Not good enough ah? When I usually pass by & give them a look, they will just look back at you, like dungu, pretend like they haven't done anything wrong. Oh well, they probably think that they're right

i have witnessed many years before in Ipoh, some van blocked the path of an express bus fromleaving Medan Kid..bus driver horned for like 15 minutes and no one came to move the van away. Bus driver whacked the van 3 times to make sure he breaks the van's lights before moving off.Tats a good lesson to be taught.

i think perhapd ppl should be informed that brief high beam flash is not an intimadating act lah. Kittycat, the way u made the above sentence is like its an act of aggression. Remember, brief flash..make use of ur right hand turn signal as well..
If u dont utilise ur beam to inform the car in front that u intend to overtake, how do u do it? tail gate closely?

Unhappy At Menara Std Chart Jln Sultan Ismal too!

Imagine there's this 1 stupid inconsiderate woman driver who park her little City (WQQ 339) on the third lane of the Jln Sultan Ismail, just outside California Fitness at Std Chart building each workday morning...PEAK hour at 8am!!!!! This is MAJOR traffic junction and she just happily park her car there each morning, while going to the gym I believe. All the cars have to avoid hers and cram into the middle lane......can you imagine! One fine morning, I came across her as she was trying to move her car....I just stop next to her car and stared at her....guess what? she has the cheek to point fingers at me!!!! Really spoilt my morning....boiling mad! Any recommendation on what I should do??!! I saw her driving her car into Life Centre's car park! am thinking to take a trip there just to sratch a note on her car bonnet!!!! Talk about inconsiderate drivers!!!

Whoops, sorry if I've unintentionally made it sound like that. Well, actually I don't think high beam flash is aggresive or intimidating.. I also do it sometimes, but when I said I try not to flash & horn as much possible is bcoz I'll give the front car a bit of time (sometimes more la if I'm not really rushing), & if the driver still don't realise, then flash, then horn if still don't know my intention.. ehem, I don't tailgate either If all the above fails then overtake lt lane (bad, bad kitty ) Hm come to think of it, I rmber an incident few years ago, when I honked the guy in front of me, he gave way, then after that tailgated me all the way till I reached the toll gate. Luckily, managed to lose him after that. He probably thought that I'm trying to intimidate him

like the thread says, this overtaking procedures/etiquette are only applicable on NS Highway as there arent that many cars as compared to other highways especially in the city..We dont expect to give way when the supposedly highways or expressways are jammed up right?

Best way, IMO, if u were tailgated in such a manner the next time is to move to left lane and let him overtake u back.No point fr u,especially a lady driver to aggravate the situation with such drivers. And never stop ur car for them to approach u. We have all read abt the case abt a man hacking to death another car driver when they got into such a situation a few years ago..

Almost everyone turns into monsters when they get behind the wheel, whether we want to admit it or not.For some examples, watch MTV's MOTORMOUTH..

eerrrr... iml109, its hazard lights, not life
running with hazard lights blinking is a hazard to life.

btw, this thread is supposed to deal with issues on highways. i see intra city/town lanes suddenly being upgraded to highway status here.

yawnnn....... time for me to nap.

    Cool Serves them right!

How about the behaviour of moronic drivers who use the emergency lane during traffic jams to cut queues? These are the worst kinds! If you are on the innermost lane when they try to cut it you run the risk of getting into a nasty accident. Picture below shows these drivers being booked by the traffic cops in an operation last Friday 15 Feb 2008. The place is the elevated part of the Federal Highway in front of the Chevrolet Sales and Service Centre along the Federal Highway.

A police roadblock anywhere, especially on busy roads is going to cost every motorist there to unnecessarily spend more on fuel!. Extremely unfortunate fact of life here!.

Agreed, its not only dangerous and very unethical to user the shoulder...but the bigger question is why, the gomen and local the council is not doing enough to elevate the age old problem here?!

If root cause of the problem is tackled and rules well enforced, we would not be seeing this happening in our daily life!

Its normal that in every class there will be a handful off incorigible students and the same way you find these sort of ppl on the road, there is nothing the police can do about these menance on the road, nothing will stop them from finding a shortcut and breaking fundemental traffic rules.

Whatever it is, I detest and deplore Malaysian police action and road blocks. There's hardly any reference nor basis that its achieving in road safety and deaths (very unlucky actually, perhaps fated!). All I know, we live in a country where people break and flout laws till kingdom come, pay fines like fools and it goes on and on..no change really. Malaysian attitudes..more bad + denials than good actually.

Would it help if the vehicle is impounded for a week if caught with an offence and a summon subsequently issued...and progressively getting heavier till confiscated..? Of course there mustn't be any corruption involve.

On the main topic, I think when you speed, you should not forget that you do not own the road.

I dunno. Mabe some people do not spend enough time speeding. Maybe they have no blardy guage of speed I just dunno.

But that said, flashing is pretty useless when the guy in front of you has no where to go. So flash once, flash twice, if the guy not moving, he aint going to move. Period.

If you are really fast enough, the guy in front of you will move as you appear out of nowhere behind him from the shock. But this does not mean you tail gate the guy infront.

And for goodness sake if your going to speed, pay the damned fine la. Cannot tahan people who speed then slow down without thought about the other guy speeding behind him.

Finally, I know it is irritating, for those people who get pushed off the road, but look at it this way, if the guy wanna go past, let him go past. You were in no rush anyway. Having a chat with your partner? Listening to the radio before he arrived? then just continue doing what you were doing and let him past. Why get all worked up?

Finally, I know this sounds corny, but I blame the lausy marketting, auto engineers bowing to market demand forces and just management driving engineering.

Reasons why cars are such slow asses past 140km/h, unless you drive a 3 liter is because the damned 5th gear/OD on autos are too low ratioed. At such low ratios for fuel consumption, noise reduction, environmental pressure, everytime the car goes past 140km/h its like a snail. And that is why ladies and genltleman we have this problem.

    BLAME THE ENGINEERS.
