An endless problem about converting to another religion.
    # Why can't Amir Gan Abdullah and his eldest son (also a Convert) inform their love ones about his conversion instead of waiting for him (Amir) to die?
    # If he's brave to convert, then he should be brave to notify them?
    # Should conversion be kept a secret ?
    # Now, will the deceased (a Muslim) property be taken away from the Chinese family if he dies with or without making a Will ?
    This looks like family squabble.

    Isn't this simple and straghtforward?
By claiming that his father has converted to Islam, the eldest son will be recognized as the only family member according to the syariah law and therefore the sole beneficiary.
Must be a sizable estate in contention.

Got back the estate!? Wow. Cool. And now, the fella can marry 4 women, too. That's killing 5 birds with a stone! Smart move!

    Thumbs down

just realised it was the police who reportedly took away the body. now we know why crime is so rampant. the men in blue are busy snatching corpses while the men we boo go for handbags. seriously, the crux of this matter is one of debate over religion. its a jakim/syariah thingy. if the cops put their and into the matter, they are just simply screwing up their lives, acting way beyond their power and duty to stay impartial to colour and creed, committing a serious crime of tresspass in the process. the cops observe secular law and syariah law is not their domain. if the cops really did what was reported, there must be a royal inquiry and the idiots (ir)responsible should be laid in the coffin.

I find the report shocking. And if true, I will bravely say that we are really in a mess when police now use religion as force. What happened to being respectful? Even the dead and the grieving families are not given any what more if you want the living to do so. I say enough is enough...

(senario) I wonder what would happen if Barrack Obama were to have retired here.... then one day, die... [from old age,of course ]

Why I used Obama as an example... simply because Barrack Obama's full name is Barrack Hussein Obama... and his [late] father was a muslim, step father oso a [non-practicing?] Indonesian muslim...

Does that make Obama a muslim?

So... question is - if he were to pass away here [without a will/declaration] would he be grabbed and buried as a muslim or otherwise...

    Just curious [as always!]

    ---------------
ps: imagine if Obama suddenly does a Cassius Clay*-style declaration after he wins the US presidency... shocker!

    What an interesting question....

under malaysian law, Obama probably would be a muslim...but Obama has gone on record saying that he is not a muslim, that he was raised mostly by his mother and grandmother, etc.

Of course, that doesnt stop his enemies from accusing him of being a muslim...probably a very tough label to carry in American politics.

I didnt know we had to find fault...........couldnt we just accept this all as a big serious of misunderstandings manipulated by people who are acting on their own selfish interests......

The remains of a 74-year-old man was yesterday released to the state Islamic religious council for burial.
Syariah Court judge said Amir Gan Abdullah, was a Muslim based on the testimony by officers from the council and his oldest child Abdul Rahman Gan Abdullah.

    http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/legal...s_council.html

    So simple as that ?
    What is a Testimony ?
Isn't it fair that his wife & family be notified of his conversion before his death ?

The above is not true. From readings (http://hsiauchuen.wordpress.com), not a rich man. Read further thru the blog. You will find news that was not covered by daily newspapers.
