Why most of Malaysian Diplomats are Bumiputras ?

‘Non-Bumis not keen to be Diplomats’

Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum when asked, "Why the great majority of Malaysian Diplomats are Bumiputras?"
His reply : " Because Non-bumiputras are not keen to become Diplomats.

"There are so few Non-Bumiputras in the Diplomatic Service because they are not enthusiastic about joining the public services", he added.

How come Non-Bumis are not keen to take-up Diplomats / Ambassador job?
Is it true they're not interested?
Same thing, few Non-Bumis in Police force because they're not interested.

Where's MCA & MIC to monitor & substantiate the truth ?

This is a really sensitive issue...please remove if it is inflammatory...

The ambassador to China (!) is a bumiputera even though there are many non-bumi (Chinese) candidates available for the last 20 years. Isn't it ironic?

And again I am speaking from experience...not mine, but my late father's.

I do agree on one statement though - not many Chinese are willing to join the public sector anymore. Why waste time with an imperfect system when the time can be used better.

It is not the years in one's life, but the life in one's years...

What do you mean by the above statement? What's so sensitive?

The problem with most of us is when the issue of the rights of non Malays are brought up it's considered "sensitive". And because of this thought, today we're marginalised. It's not that the non Malays are not interested. You may not know the truth if you're not in the government service or military. You'll know the truth once you're inside. This is real life experience from yours truly. I served in the Malaysian Armed Forces for 12 years. Do you know why I didn't stay on? The main reason is that we're marginalised. It's about time we stand for our rights as Malaysians.

So long as the quota system based on race and promotion opportunities based on race still exist, you will not find many non Malays with the government, even one wants to be in.

Let's all fight for equal rights, free & fair elections, independent judiciary and full compliance with the United Nation declaration of human rights.

Then all these racial discussions become a subset.

We cannot deracialise the country if we keep on racialising the arguments.
    See you...

You believed the reason given by this guy? This same guy will also say that the reason the Chinese population is not growing is because the Chinese are not interested in sex anymore.

I have non Bumi friends in the Administrative and Diplomatic Corp services and yet none of them was appointed as diplomat. How can Malaysia a Malay country be represented by non Malays? If all the GLCs are run by appointed Bumis' CEO, why not Malaysia be represented the same way?

    Why?
because the bumi have greater interest .

Why not say the bumi are not interested to do business and not interested to study SO we leave them alone and drop the NEP and the system quota? Game?

ask you this, if you are being offer a post of General or a Diplomat or a chance to represent Malaysia to the highest peak but you have to convert to "better represent malaysia", are you KEEN?

I am sure you know what happen to those who stood up and fight for their right? Ask those five Hindraf fellows in Kemunting.
