I was informed by the organiser that so far 70 people have registered. Many will gain insights on how to apply for such a loan. And for those who are facing problem in receivables, CTOS (public enemy No 1 to borrowers but a friend indeed to creditors) is also presenting their service offerings and how big and small businessmen can make use of their database to smell out the 'chau ka' and thus save themselves from financial ruin. In the last talk where many of you missed, our Lato Tupai has this to say

As for me, I am willing to invest RM 30.00 and 5 hours of my Saturday afternoon to learn a thing or two as this is not taught in the Harvard School of Business Studies.

Up to now, they already have a registration of 80 participants. For those who want to attend, you better call me at 012-2995330 as time and space is running out. I can help you to fast track your registration.

For those who are attending, please remember that the traffic is going to be screwed up if you can read the postings in the other threads in the main forum. The Light and Easy website on Traffic advises people to avoid the following 9 roads. If not, take the Putra LRT and get down at Taman Jaya (AmCorp) Mall. The venue is within walking distance. Remember, LUNCH is provided and is served from 12.00 noon so come early, relax and eat all you can but don't fall asleep when the talk begins.

    1) KL Seremban Highway: near Sri Petaling
    2) SPRINT Highway, near Section 16 (currently backed-up into the NKVE near Subang)
    3) Grand Saga Highway, after the Batu 9 Toll
    4) Besraya Highway, near Kampung Malaysia
    5) NKVE: near the Duta Toll Plaza exit
    6) Kajang Silk Highway: near Sungai Ramal
    7) Federal Highway, near the Sungai Rasau Toll
    8) Old Klang Road: near Jalan Templer

There were more than 100 people who actually turned up and it would be heartless if the organiser turned them away. Since they came all the way, they were accommodated but there was not enough seminar materials to give to them.

The talk started right on time as everybody must have made extra effort to come early and eveybody had a longer lunch and also able to interact.

Mr Chey the speaker from RHB Bank really gave an eye opening talk. Now I know when to apply for a business loan and how to tailor made it to increase my chances of getting it approved. He also advised not to fabricate your financial records using ICT technology for they also employ the latest ICT technology that are able to see through you. In fact some companies are seen doing that. Another useful advice is don't evade taxes for Big Brother IRD will do a audit on your company once every 5 years and again you cannot escape.

Mr Chai of SMI Development Corporation ( SMIDEC ) a division in the Ministry of Trade and Industry revealed the 9 SME grants that are offered in 9 areas to grow your business and you don't have to pay back a single sen as these are all grants. He also say where you don't qualify or deserve the grants, you can apply for a soft loan from MIDF where the interest rate is 4% throughout the loan tenure. Sounds interesting. Either I get free money or at a low 4% interest.

The last speaker Ms. Moon, the Sales Manager of CTOS was over the moon when she explained how they built up their database and how the financial institutions use it to reject your loan. She said it is free for anyone who want to see the financial death list of his/her own record. She advised anyone who wants to take a loan to do so before applying or else you malu yourself. You never know how your name could creep into their database. Mine did. She also explained how you can get your name off from CTOS list. I tell you it is not easy. I told her to expect me there. And I am going to create a ruckus there if they don't remove mine. I wonder whether Karveas is still interested to bark at the CTO tree since now he is trying to save his own skin. By the way your company can subscribe to that online financial information checking by paying RM 390.00 per month and for every transaction/search, you will be charged RM 5.00

Overall, those who did not attend have missed a great opportunity to have an indept knowledge how to procure funding for you business from financial and non financial institutions and also how to seek financial information to avoid business dealings with companies with high financial risk. I would highly recommend this should it be conducted again for the third time.

Depending on what your business would be....Most of the grants available are for manufacturing sectors. Are you planning to open up Audit Firm? If I recall well, there is a grant for professional services set up... please check out SMIDEC website.

Since CCSharon is from India, I don't think anyone of us can advise her where to go. What we are discussing here is the Malaysian experince.

Opps.. I didn't notice CCSharon is from India. I doubt any grants will be made available to her since most of the grants requires at least 60% Malaysian shareholding.
