    help! got problem with router!

I just bought a router for home use.Its a netgear RP614v.I connected two pcs to the router using the normal network cable.PC 1 is able to connect to the internet as usual. However the 2nd pc is able to connect but the data transfer rate is so slow its the same as no internet.I have tried all the silly ip settings and default gateway thingie. So can someone help me out here as to wat numbers i should be putting in the boxes for the ip address .

Another problem is when i switch of the router and the modem. When i switch them back on again, the 1st pc will not be able to connect and i would have to restart the router to get in working again.I dint know using routers would be such a hassle

dhcp means the router assigns the ip address automatically... weird problem you got... did you bring the router back and ask them to troubleshoot?

i think u better use dhcp for both of ur pc..u can do this by using ur router as dhcp server..
do not modify anything except ur streamyx id and password..dont forget to apply the setting (save and reboot)
