    Renovation laws

Hi all. I would like to enquire on whether it there is a rule/law that a person doing extension requires his/her neighbors permission. According to MPSJ Website,

    Langkah 2: Item 8
"Surat kebenaran jiran bagi rumah teres yang melibatkan tambahan hadapan dan semua rumah berkembar"

Does this mean that if any extension done will require the neighbor permission before the permit is provided?

    Scenario:
My new neighbor intends to do sideways extension of the back portion of house on my right. At present, the area is open about 6+6 feet wide. She requested our permission and but we told her that we do not give permission (We do not want her to do the extension because it will affect the breathing space and several other issues in regards to our 'space'). But now she is still continuing with the extension. I went to MPSJ and spoke to the officer there, he seems quite dodgy and said no permission is required. The permit has already been issued! How can that be?

Can I request MPSJ to show me all the laws and rules? And to see if my neighbors extension abides by them? Any suggestions on how to proceed?

yes. it says tambahan hadapan (or front extension). So I think you have no case with the council. The only thing if you wish to disturb your neighbour, is as follow : -

since the MPSJ website you gave me states that Reinforced concrete works require a professional engineer / architect, etc. to be involved, if your neighbour has any reinforced concrete (steel with concrete) works, ask the MPSJ for the professional engineer's plans. (you have to photograph your neighbour to show proof that they are constructing in RC!

other than that, if your neighbour follows the law, then nothing can be done!
