    SMS Alert

Those of you who are members of SJ Alert and living in the SS12 to SS19 precinct of Subang Jaya, would have received the following SMS Alert message yesterday.

Dear Residents of SS12-SS19, unhappy w/Subang Ria Park proposed development? Register your concern at MPSJ before 18/06/07 or forever be silent. Pls circulate.

You have been warned about how and when to make the objections. I doubt very much that MPSJ is going to change the mode and timing of the complaints for anyone.

So if you care, go do your stuff now!

Subang Ria Park is just not a 'Subang Jaya issue' any longer it involves the whole and national question of safeguarding our open spaces, lakes, gardens and green lungs!

It involves the issue of representation by developers in brochures!

It involves the duties of the local council to make certain that titles to open spaces and gren lungs to be collected within a time frame work and failure showing an ommission in public duty!

As far as the protest notes are concerned - Yes - I am certain that the 'powers that be' will not wait for anyone - they are in a hurry!

    Are the plans ready?

Of course - there are many versions whether this is just another acadamic exercise and certain parties all playing their "dutiful" role in 'outright pretence'?

    But we will see!

The SAVE SUBANG RIA PARK SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN forms are already in the CASSA WEBSITE. http://www.cassa.org.my

Please feel free to download and collect as many signatures as you can.

    Our target is 1 Million.

Several NGO's from other states are also doing their bit to download and collect signatures which would be put in a proper dossier with all the background stories, TV & paper clips to be handed over to the nation's leadership!

Let us manage this collectively and once and for all settle this matter in Subang Jaya and as a precedent elsewhere - in the interest of the housebuyers and the community!

Thanks for the many calls dear friends checking on the SAVE SUBANG RIA CAMPAIGN FORMS TO DOWNLOAD!

As I indicated 1. go to the CASSA WEBSITE: http://www.cassa.org.my/
    2. On the left hand corner look at the column on CAMPAIGNs and please click.
    3. The SAVE SUBANG RIA SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN form is the third form which you can print out and as many as you want to reproduce by photostating. No problems.

We will work together with the SJ Alert and RA groups to collect the forms later.

We will also set up a booth in several shopping centers in and around Subang Jaya soon too.

    Thanks.

Since it is popular and majority requests:

Is it possible to get a form scanned and posted here in this forum to download in the public interest?

I've asked before but no one has responded. If the people are inconvenienced, it is certain that there would be less supporters...

Hv asked MPSJ staff b4, and some didn't even know what it was!

OK, I will be getting a soft copy of the MPSJ FORM in a little while from the Neighbourhood Watch Group in SS14 and I will post it here for everyone to download.

In the meantime, take a look at these pictures of the proposed Subang Ria Park. (Sorry about the EXTRA Large size of the pictures as I thought it would be good if everyone saw exactly what we are in for.

Pictures courtesy of SS14 Neighbourhood Watch Group

Once again sorry about the large size.

Err buddies...in one of the casual community meetings recently...Orchi was told that...the proposed development...would occupy ONLY 30% of the existing Subang Ria park areas.

Wow...from the posted pictures of the development plans...it sure does NOT look like it is any where near to 30%.

It is MORE like 60% of the total park area...!!!

in the signature campaign, the signature form should include a statement that "the below signed will not vote for BN in the next election if this matter is not resolved." Then, we should write to the menteri besar and the president of MCA with all those signatures we collected. Imagine what they would do if they see 1 million people won't be voting for them. They could not only lose Subang Jaya state assembly seat to DAP, they could potentially lose the whole state if 1 million people swing their votes in this state. i bet you not only will they stop the development plans, the MB himself will come and clean the lake and potong rumput for us, ala IJOK style.

Robert great job! Well done and Thanks!
Sinleong - you are exactly right as the implications of the signature campaign and the recently organized protest at the lake was brillant! Well Done!
Both have far reaching consequences in Subang Jaya and elsewhere in the state!
This is well known to the policymakers, politicians, corporate bodies and the local council - period!
If you read the exposure in The Star - Metro on the protest at the lake you will get my drift!
The article has upset certain local politicos but I understand that at the federal level many are full of support as if we win here this sets the precedent all over the country!
Some politicians are trying to use the Federal Town Planning and Country Act to exclude civil society members, environmentalist, NGO's and of course CASSA! Read the article in the Star and get the drift!
Their argument - only residents can protest which is utter rubbish as this area is a green lung for the region and in the public interest a national issue and of course, NGOs like CASSA must and will be there to represent public interest! We are all professionals!
When CASSA has the ears of the Federal and State government - why should a local council or the local politicos attempt to hinder our presence ..unless
Interestingly, let me encourage you - we already have support building up nationally on this issue, certain corporate bodies have come forward to provide us space to place our signature campaign forms and for collection etc.
Subang Ria must be preserved and the title returned to the local council/state to be gazetted as a park and recreational area - a green lung!
If necessary we will go back in time to get the minutes and other documents to see where the mistake was that allowed this error to continue to this day!
There is also a formitable opposition here - a very localised black hand but with the support pouring in from the federal level - it will be quite interesting exchange!
Several international media groups/NGOs will be visiting this area as this matter has already been picked up by the international media and blogs!
If you have the mobile number of any residents who have been here since its beginning please sms me as I would like them to be featured in the international media report!

Dr George & the rest who are following this thread,

Pls take note that there is also another pond at USJ/Subang area. It's a heavily polluted retention pond located at USJ3A area. Initially meant for storm management purposes - NOT as dumping ground! The water here goes directly into our rivers & seas.

The two hv almost similiar fates. When development sets in, the Subang Ria lake may look just as disgusting like the one at USJ3A or may be worse.

    See thread discussion at :
    http://www.usj.com.my/bulletin/uploa...t=18142&page=4

Thanks to our local council. They are the ones who are encouraging pollution.

It's great that the proposed plan was posted for viewing and copies of the forms available for download. It shows how much potential damage it will cause to the green lung. Preservation and maintenance of such a place should be a top priority.

Both the MPSJ and campaign forms should also be available during the public forum.

They are using 100% of the Park

What do you mean 60% of the total park area??????

I doubt very much that Sime Darby is beautifying the Lake area out of the goodness of their hearts.

Look closely at the whole map, you will come to the conclusion that the beautification of the West Lake (or what is called Taman Rakyat / Tasik Barat) is solely for the purpose of enhancing the drive through to Taman Kediaman 1, Taman Kediaman 2 and Taman Dagangan /Tasik Timur.

Taman Kediaman 1 – Development still Unknown
Taman Kediaman 2 – 28 storey Apartment Block
Taman Dagangan – Block Dagangan and many Pejabat Korparat

Imagine the selling point for both their Corporate and Residential properties with the beautification of Taman Rakyat with so many access roads to boot.

So is it proper to say that they are using 100% of the total Park area for their own purpose and letting the Rakyat of Subang Jaya a chance to enjoy part of their facilities?
