Latuk Kong And Scientific Explanations

anyone came across any articles on our Malaysia's Latuk Kong and is there any scientific explainations over these Datuks?

For your info, Latuks are apparently some Malay spirits and when food offering is made, no alcohol and pork are allowed.

These spirits can enter a medium and the medium speaks on behalf of the latuk.

i have visited latuks before. what i am amazed is that he can tell me THINGS I ALREADY KNOW. but when i ask for future staff, he cannot really predict. For instance, he told me not to walk near a red house near my house. How does he know it? But when i ask if my investment with a particular person would be ok and he said it's ok. However, the investment failed!

So how do you explain this i.e. he can tell what i know but cannot predict my future. i really want to know if there is a scientific way of reading one's mind.

Well..it seem obvious that the person engaged to Latuk Kong could have seen your place before or maybe know something happened to the red house. Have you ever ask him why you can't walk near the red house? Just like anyone, he of course cannot predict what is yet to happen. He would simply guess since it is 50/50 chance of he getting the right answer. So, if he strikes the right one, you will say "wonderful, this guy really good".

Anyway.. putting aside these scientific explanations.... I too have experienced before few unexplanable explanation on this kind of spiritual thing when I was teenage time.

My mum likes to engaged someone to come to our house to let the god spirit to enter his body and speak. To my surprise, unexplanable observations was observed in two different events :-

Event #1 - God of Mercy or Kuan Yin
1. He can speaks ladylike voice, very soft spoken just like how a lady would speak.
2. He can tell what has happended to my brother (my brother kept this secret from my mum and any of us)
3. Without visiting second floor of our house... he can accurately tells you what things have placed incorrectly causing bad feng shui.

Event #2 - Latuk Kong
1. Before the Latuk Kong spirit entered his body, there was a very strong wind blown out of sudden. Immediately after the wind stops... the Latuk Kong starts to speak.
2. He speaks in a very deep voice and he really speaks perfect Malay.

Until now, these few observations still mystify me even though these have happened so many years ago and I still cannot explain scientifically.

Most people in the local Chinese community would know that this "datuk" is not a person but a spirit (for those who believes in spirits and the paranormal). In order to avoid any errors in perceptions of the topic, I have taken the liberty to change the honorific to "Latuk" as the way it is pronounced by the Ah Soh and Ah Pek. No offence to Lato Tupai

Yes its a mystery but I am still not very convinced.

Certain things may seems true but its not. Just ask David Copperfield.
For example,

1) A Magician reading minds of audiences he selected from the crowd.
Explaination: He earlier send a team to collect information of these people
before the magic show.

2) A Magician bringing a fly back to life
Explaination: Put the fly in a fridge and take it out. It will slowly recover from
a temporary frozen stage.

I am not saying its not true. I am just not sure. But not having an explaination for it certainly cannot constitute as proof unless you have considered ALL other possibilities which dont show otherwise. To prove a mathematical theorem (eg Fermat Theorem) is not easy let alone something as "flimsy" as a spirit.

I have seen both a temple medium and a kampung bomoh in action. But I remain a skeptic.

if we to believe so much in the knowledge we gain from spirit that we failed to even realised that the fact that we believe may not be real after all....then i think its such a sad case....maybe until now we still shouldnt point when we sees a fullmoon...

Rocker, I have the same feelings like you. i.e. I don't quite believe the Latok Kong unless there is some sort of scientific proofs/ explaination. I explained earlier, he can tell WHAT I ALREADY KNOW but he doesn't seem to know about my future. So, if anyone in Malaysia in general and USJ in particular have any sort of scientific explaination, I would be glad to hear it.

Well, sometimes, if you know things and can explain things, then it's only logical to believe it. For instance, I can challenge anyone here in USJ. I can lie on a bed of nails or I can stand on a bed of nails.

For people who know physics, they will not think that I have some sort of special power. I have NO power! I just make use of simple stress = force (or weight) divide by area

let me explain.

If you put two or three nails on that bed and ask me to lie on it, the nails will puncture me ! OUCH!!!! The area is very small and thus a very high intensity of stress is on my body and the nail will puncture my skin.

if you put millions and millions of nails VERY VERY close together, maybe use concrete and cement it or use nails / plywood / glue and put the million nails together, then I am able to lie on the bed of nails. The area of contact between my body and the nails now is very huge. It's almost like lying on a road. since the area is large, the stress intensity is very small. hence i will have no puncture.

this is the sort of scientific explainations i would like to know.

(P/S there are differenet variations of this experiment and I have seen some people who use very few nails but can lie on those nails. It's still unexplainable to me but that is a different story. Back to Latuk)

I was reading this Speed Reading book by I think Buzan or something like that. In this book he was giving a story about a jewellery merchant. He tells that the jewellery merchant is able to know whether a potential customer is interested in a particular stone. How? Well, the merchant looks into the eyes of the customer. The eyes dilates when the customer is interested. hence, this jewellery merchant have no special powers or six sense to determine if the customer is interested. The merchant just basically make use of the human's biological reaction.

Similarlly, how do we know if someone is telling a lie ?
Sometimes, when we look at the kid's eyes, his eyes will blink, etc. My teachers were able to catch me telling a lie. I was quite amazed. I thought they had six sense when I was young. But now, I look back, I know how they knew.

So, in short, I am looking for some sort of scientific explaination. I do believe many things in the world can be explained with science.
