PLUS - What's goin' on brader?

I went to the PLUS office located next to the Shah Alam Toll (outside Subang Jaya along the Federal Highway) this afternoon to purchase a Smart Tag unit for RM100.00 "Promotional Offer" as advertised but was told by the girl there "Tak ada stok Encik, sebab RM100 punya stok terhad"....

So it was only natural I asked "Bila ada stok?" The answer shocked me :

"Yang RM100 sudah habis, yang ada harga biasa sahja - RM200 satu unit. Promosi itu hanya 10 unit satu pejabat sahja, sudah lama habis."

"Jadi kenapa buat iklan lagi?", I asked

"Tak tahu lah Encik, kita hanya kerani sahja"

DOES ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW WHATS GOIN' ON WITH THIS PLUS OFFER?

I thought you have to top up your Touch & Go card for RM 100 to be eligible for the RM 100 Smart-Tag. But out of stock!

A friend just called and informed me that it is also out-of-stock at the Tampoi and Ayer Keroh toll, on his way back from JB!

I think PLUS better do a quick self-review, bolih manage kah?

But do they (PLUS) really care, they just ask for a toll rate increase if profit drops, why bother to improve efficiency or service level to the motorists?

I am just wonderin' though, why are there 3 girls manning the service counter at the Shah Alam toll office if tadak stock?

Have anyone considered that they may be discontinuing the SmartTag? Didn't any of you remember it being mentioned some time back that we could be introducing the type of tag used in Singapore where the car need not slow down at the tag lane? That would need a new smart-reader system whereby the cards can be read at highway speeds, so just drive through the gantries.

If that materialises, I would welcome the new system because they use that even in Australia and I am sure elsewhere as well. It is about time we dump the SmartTag.

I think it will be ages before it's implemented. Still under study.

My gut feel, earliest end of next year.

more accidents i presume as those that are still using manual counter will take some time to pick their speeds but those with the tag will just zoom pass in full speeds...results, accidents...hard to compare msia with other countries coz msian driver is different.....my 2 cents...

some places do not need this new system. For instance, when I am traveling from Subang Jaya to Damansara Jaya using NKVE, after paying the toll, I get stuck in the jam. So, if the new device is in place, the only thing I have now is, I get stuck faster in the jam.

Anyway, regarding what's going on with PLUS, maybe a phone call to the management or Customer Service (if they have) of PLUS may answer Sentinnel's queries. Try http://www.plus.com.my/contactus1.asp
