F1 weekend - If flying budget, go to LCCT much earlier than your flight

I am posting this to warn you guys since so many of us "Glocal" SJ forumers fly about a lot. Today on my way to KLIA I witnessed the mother of all jams which started from about 1km to the left turn towards the LCCT from the KLIA road. I do not know how far the jam extends but I suspect must be all the way to the SIC. And the cars were not moving at all. To make things worse, in true Malaysian fashion, there were many queue jumpers blocking up the entire KLIA road. This is obviously embarrasing as there were many cars with foreigners. This was at 12pm and many people on the way to LCCT must have missed their flights. Field day for Air Asia as their tickets are usually non refundable.

So, if you are flying this weekend, do make sure you go to the airport 3-4 hours earlier.

As if they ( the organisers and the Police) have no experience with an F1 weekend. What an unnessary jam which could have been prevented or properly managed with better foresight, planning and policing.

...and extra income for the mata mata ...just book all those idiotic queue jumpers.

Yeah, a bit too late. I was stuck in the jam yesterday while going to LCCT to pick up my parents. It was terrible. Police was everywhere but that didnt help much. I'll be aleart next time when there is something going on in the vicinity of LCCT and KLIA.

8 freaking years (since 1999!) and the Sepang F1 organisers are still don't know how to get traffic in order... One would have thought after all these years, the organisers and the police would have gotten their act together with regards to the traffic on RACE day... instead the only freaking way OUT of the mess properly, is if you came in via helicopters, or with Police escorts - yelling and shouting thru the loud-hailer ( telling you to move aside while the VIP is escorted through...!) Then you get the PAIN IN THE ASS "tagged" vehicles that would tailgate these police escorts... WT* !!!

And you wonder if Sepang F1 can stay on the calender... whilst Singapore bids for its F1. Recently it was reported that Singapore has got lots of work to do (like the Pitstop etc etc )before B.E can consider Singapore's bid. Me think with Singapore track records on way things are done... all those obstacles would be taken cared off in less time than you think...

The irony is... the Sepang F1 organisers still think that they are invincible... and that the F1 races will still be held in Malaysia regardless... a locally known syndrome as "sombong bodoh!" ...

actually the traffic was not bad at all. yes there was a jam getting there but within 15mins I was there from the KLIA mosque. Going was a breeze for me. After the prize giving, I walked to the car park(PA3) and drove off. Within 15mins or so, I was at the KLIA toll booth!!!I've been to every F1 at Sepang since 1999. In 1999, the traffic was bad. People were stuck for hours, I was stuck for couple of hours. And based on what I observed, they have made improvements since then. This year there was a contra flow lane going to the F1 and even my overseas guest sees the improvements as he has been to 6 of the 8th F1s we have held at Sepang.

For those heading to LCCT, well you will have a longer ride.There was signs pointing to the LCCT terminal where the contra lane started. But if I'm not wrong, there is road that loops around KLIA and brings to the roundabout near cargo area and LCCT terminal. The access road is close the VIP/Bunga Raya terminal.Maybe someone can confirm this.

There is a short cut at the mosque. Turn off to P.B.Salak... u will turn up at Cyberjaya (Dengkil exit)... then to the Puchong exit.

I am one of those assholes who did that a couple of years back. There is nothing that says you can't do that. But I don't do this with ambulances as I can be endangering the ambulance should I hit them from behind. For VVIP convoy (Very very Irritating Person) I don't care. I was ferrying 3 Mat Sallehs who were guests in the Siemen Hospitality Suit which was the whole go cart circuit (they booked the whole go cart circuit whole day and I was one of their guests) in my car when I followed that VVIP convoy out of the Sepang Circuit. Since I also had the SmartTag, I tailed them all the way till out of the KLIA Toll. When I dropped them off at the Eastin Hotel in PJ, I then called my friends who were with me for the F1. They told me they were were still inching out of their parking bay! That was why I told the lucky winner who got those 2 freaking tickets for freaking free from Orchi about this traffic problem and be prepared for it. Many people don't know that they must show their F1 tickets to buy the RM 50 parking ticket which is A4 size to stick it onto their windscreens from the parking ticketing stations along the fringes of the circuit before entering Sepang. Without that the police will divert you away and you will be screaming FU. The official are professional enough. From the info on the tickets, they would sieve these cars out as they drove all around the circuit and direct them into the parking bays nearest to where they would be seated. Who says they were not systemmatical. The traffic problem is usually caused by ignorant drivers who either didn't know about the parking ticket arrangement and those who jumped queue. The assholes are those thinking that there is free parking in the circuilt where they can leave their vehicles tripled parked!!!

Depends on your point of view... if you are looking from the perspective of the organisers... YUP!! - Allow basic transportation to *****-up so that a heck of a lot of people would have to drive there..and presto..there's LOT'SA GOLD in form of RM50 stickers!

If you're a driver that HAD to buy a sticker - well, the only GOLD you'd see is the GOLD colored laterite mud being splattered on your car, from the 4x4 manuevring, in front of you...
