USJ20 TNB High Voltage Surge

Anyone from USJ 20 experience a High Voltage Surge on 4 April @ 2:00 AM. The surge which happend at my house was really bad. It was in the wee hours of the morning that I call TNB (abt 2:15 AM) and told them about the high voltage. My ceiling fan was at speed one but from the speed of the fan it looks as if it was at speed 6!!!!

But it was too late by the time I called TNB and as most of my electrical appliances are fried. Some of the things are such as my air conditioning, auto gate, cordless phone, streamyx modem and water filter system.

Does anyone know what my rights are as a consumer?

You should sue TNB for your losses. You do have your rights as a consumer. After all, if you are late on your payment, they won't show you any mercy. Set a precedent and pls let us know the outcome.

sue TNB? don't be silly! it simply won't work! they are monopoly in all senses and seem to be above the laws at times.

they have every right (to them only it seems) to stop supplying of electricity even though cases are still in court.

Out of curiosity... WOULD it be okay/safe for us to whack the ELCB switch or the Mains (FUSE) Circuit breaker (to OFF) to cut the electrical supply - when we suddenly notice things like the fan suddenly working like a Fokker50 turboprop or the other electrical stuff in the house behaving like in a Poltergiest movie...

hmm...how do u prove that there was a voltage surge in order to bring them to court???

sudah report to TNB or not? make a report, and they'll investigate. if it's truly TNB's fault, they're willing to work out a compensation. But if it's due to thefts at the local substation near your house, then it's a bit hard to get compensation.

Did your neighbor's also experience the surge? if not, maybe it wasn't TNB's fault at all... maybe there's a poltergeist in your house

My immediate neighbour did experience the surge as well. Not too sure how extent is the damage for them. I'm checking with them tomorrow.
Hear from some of my friends that these kind of things are clamable from TNB. I have made a report and still waiting for their reply. Will update u all with the progress of this.

a year ago it happened in usj areas.We made a complain to TNB in subang square office.The next day they sent an officer to take photos of damaged items in my house and they also asked for bills to proof the cost of all the items.We filled up the form and sent back to them.You know what few month later they called up and we claimed back about 70 percent by cheque.MY neighbours same row also got their.Do now u can claim back friend.

Thanks for the info. I'll surely will pay TNB a visit. Even if it takes months for them to do the claim.
