3G is overrated. At least at the moment. I'm subscribing to the Maxis 3G broadband. I get full service when in USJ16. At USJ12 which is like a few streets distance away, the connection quality is abyssmal.
Like all broadband services in Malaysia, don't get your hopes up. Mediocrity is the catchword.
You can also forget about calling their tech support for help. Streamyx, Maxis, it's the "You ask, you answer" motto.

wAISEKMAo, if you're considering 3G then go for the HSDPA connection (3.5G)
As for WiMAX, the plan is to implement and deploy the services by Q4 '07 in stages however a plan is still a plan.

Anothere alternative is the iBURST by Mobif and Kyocera is expected to by this year to pip the four WiMAX vendors to grab early adopters market share. This will be interesting because Mobif has a technology sponsor in the form of Kyocera with capex to boot.

From the limited text i can gather from the iBurst website, the pricing hasn't been published therefore no comments however it is said to be a 1Mbps connection with 2Mbps in the pipeline. So this is a direct Streamyx competitor.

As for hardware there will be 3 modems (Laptop, USB and Desktop Modem). For me i think it would be interesting if i could incorporate 3 (or 2) modems with a single account; i.e. Desktop and Laptop to enable home use for multi-user and travelling use via PCMCIA.

    Any Technologist available to comment?
