    Toyota Vios vs Honda City

Hi, friends, i am having a tough time to decide between buying a Toyota Vios and Honda City. Any ideas? My test drive seisson put me back to where I began:

    1) I dislike the display console of the Vios which is at the middle. A feeling of driver not in control. I instinctively dislike the petrol gauge LED.

    2) Honda City only came with silver and dark grey (almost black). Both colors are at the bottom of my color choice. What a lack of color scheme for such a brilliant car design.

Any other comments such as road-handling, air-cond, engine noise etc that can help me make decision?

    Thanks.

Atom, am having the same dilemma. Want a City with dark fabric with the foldable back seats but neither the Vtec nor the IDSI version has this exact combo.

    Other wish list:
    1. Ipod ready head unit

Conclusion, wait a little longer....something might turn out with this years expected new car offerings.

thanks totoro, am aware of that too. Based on the latest report it is slightly bigger than the current Vios but i don't think its size is on par with the current City.

i hope the Belta would include:
    1. rear disc brakes with ABS & EBD & BA
    2. Ipod ready
    3. additional safety harness for baby seat (Latch system)
    4. dual airbags

Anyway, will see it in flesh before commenting further.

If I am buying a new car, my main concern will be the safety, mechanical, size and maintenance aspects. The cosmetics will be my last concern but that does not mean it is unimportant. KelvC listed some necessary features in modern day cars and I will give priority to those features over cosmetics anytime. The Vios has a reputation for reliability and low maintenance verses Honda's vogue and performance image

I use a Vios in Thailand and I am happy with it except for some "odds and ends" that tend to "unstick" themselves because it is assembled in Thailand. For the same reason, most Singaporeans prefer Honda as the quality of fitting and assembly is better. I am not sure where the Malaysian Vios come from but if it is from Thailand, I will consider it a minus factor. It will not necessary persuade me from buying it but will definitely make me take a good look at Honda.

I was in such situation 2 mths ago ... Swift, Vios and City is the order. I got the City instead. Overall, its the space/size of the interior that decides. Took the car to Kuala Terengganu and it only cost me RM70!! Thats great and clocked 550KM for that. Patrick was rite, the service is EXCELLENT, even better than the Toyota center in sect 14 (or 13?) PJ. My personal opinion, go with City and you will not regret. BTW, mine is IDSI not VTec ....

GreyShadow, this price is just 2 days old from Honda dealers opposite Ikea. OTR price for i-DSI is RM79,780 and for VTEC is RM84,780. But the catch is only three colors available: Satellite Silver Metallic, Alabaster Silver Metallic (another silver) and Nighthawk Black Pearl (almost black). Rainbow has 7 colors and Honda choose black and silver! What are they thinking? Now, I am more inclined to Vios due to lack of color choice of City.

The video definitely demonstrates a much more promising Vios than the current model...

Yupp... no harm to wait a little while if you're not in urgent for the car. There will be lots of new car models going to be launch soon... Just wait and see.
