A colleague of mine has a sister who is in need of blood transfusion due to low blood count after the radio & chemotherapy due to lung cancer. The doctor advised to get the blood on standby as her blood count is still dropping due to the above treatments.
We, including her family would be very much appreciated if you and your friends would be able to donate blood at SJMC, any blood group will do, however as the patient is in need of the platelets, FEMALEs are not advisable to donate.
Pls refer below the details:
Hospital: SJMC Blood Bank, New Wing at level 5
Patient name: Chan Lai Leng
Opening Hours: Mon - Fri (8.30am - 5.30pm),
Sat (8.30am - 12.30pm)

Fortunately for you but not for others. + means you can receive from both + and - whereas - means you can only recieve from - which has a smaller percentage of donors.Originally Posted by bobkee
She does not smoke, but the doctor mentioned one of the cause could be due to inhaling smokes while cooking.......What's the cause of the lung cancer ? Does she smoke ?

I just realise that the following hospitals do not accept your blood if you were staying in UK for more than 6 months during the Mad Cow Disease period (I think 1980 to 1996): -
1. Pantai Medical Centre, (Pantai)
2. University Hospital (PJ)
Is there no way to detect if one have Mad Cow Disease?
