Blood Needed (Any Type)

Hi. My ex tuition teacher who is just like a friend of mine, is seeking for help. His Sister is suffering from cancer. First it was cancer of the uterus but she went for operation and things were okay. Then it started spreading to the liver and they're afraid it might spread to her kidney too. Late last year her lymphnodes were affected and her legs were swalloned till like an elephant's.

Her condition is worsening but she's still very optimistic. She's warded at Pantai Hospital and their blood bank is running low because there have been alot of dengue cases around Chinese New Year.

Any bloodtype is needed because they need to replace the blood that she's using.

I hope you guys would help out on this.

you should let us know which Pantai hospital you are referring to. There is one in Pantai area, one in Ampang, etc.

Oh, one more thing is, does this hospital allow you to donate to a particular person? The last time I donated blood at University Hospital after reading someone's posting, I was told by the forumer and UH that donors are not allowed to specify to whom the blood goes to.

So if Pantai allows donors to donate to a particular person, you could also let us know her name

I hope more people would read this. Anyways, I will try to make a trip down to Pantai to donate. Ah, I forgot to ask one more thing. What time is it can people donate? Are they open on Sundays, etc.

If I donate on Friday, I might need to ponteng.
I am not free on Saturday and I also cannot donate on Saturday because I am drinking alcohol on Friday.

If I am allowed to donate on Sunday, I would be quite free on that day.

anybody can donate blood of any type.
whatever blood type is not really an issue. They have some sort of blood bank system inside which I don't understand. Just donate the blood and tell them whom you want to donate to . For eg if you are blood type X and patient requires Y but you have already donated blood type X. There will be some sort of system to exchange blood type X with Y so that the patient whom you donated to will receive blood type Y.

I know there is no X and Y. I just didn't wanna make a mistake by specifically mentioning A, B, AB, O+, O- and those stuff cause I am no doctor.

As for the hours, I just got from a reliable source i.e. a doctor working in Pantai, that the operating hours are: -

Monday to Thursday
0900 to 1300
1400 to 1600

Friday
0900 to 1215
1430 to 1600

Saturday
0900 to 1200

Sunday
Not Opened

after going to Pantai today, the nurse asked me "replacement" or "volunteer"?

I told her I am here to donate blood to someone. Then she said, "Oh, replacement".

So in other words, there is some sort of "replacement" like I mentioned in my earlier posting.

I guess for the "volunteer" one, the blood goes to anyone.

Oh, I managed to ponteng without anyone "noticing". I just told my colleague, I am going to the bank. But she didn't know it was the blood bank

The exhange system sounds like they already have the blood type she needs, but the hospital is asking you to get other donors in order to keep the bank filled.
